No. 11 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey Completes Sweep of No. 15/RV Mercyhurst, Continues Program-Best Start

Kyrkkö posts shutout win in first career start between the pipes, Ross and Anick score in Huskies 2-0 win over Mercyhurst
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (4-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) continued its perfect start to the 2024-25 season on Saturday afternoon, completing a sweep of No. 15/RV Mercyhurst with a 2-0 victory at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
The Huskies have extended the program record for most wins to start a season to four after freshman netminder Emilia Kyrkkö (Nokia, Finland) posted a 21-save shutout in her first collegiate start and senior defenders Dayle Ross Spirit River, Alberta) and Ella Anick (Hermantown, Minn.) each found the back of the net for their first goals of the season.
Ross opened the scoring midway through the first period with a wrist shot from just inside the blue line with assists going to linemate sophomore defender Carmen Bray (Nanaimo, British Columbia) and sophomore forward Greta Henderson (Regina, Saskatchewan). Anick doubled the Huskies lead with a one-timer early in the second period. The assists from her goal were credited to her linemate, senior defender, Taylor Larson (Nisswa, Minn.) and junior forward Svenja Voigt (Cologne, Germany).
The Huskies outshot Mercyhurst 38-21, went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill and 1-for-1 on the powerplay. SCSU remains perfect on the kill to start the season (15-for-15).

- Sophomore forward Laura Zimmermann (Ringgenberg, Switzerland) skated to a +1.
- Sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvia, Finland) led the game in shots on goal (six). She also skated to a +1 and tied for the game lead in faceoff wins (12).
- Senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) led the game in blocks (three).
- Fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) was tied for second in the game with 11 faceoff wins.
