Huskies look to stay undefeated in duals
St. Cloud, Minn.- St. Cloud State Wrestling (1-0, 1-0 NSIC) travels to Moorhead, Minn. to face off against MSU Moorhead on Thursday, December 19. The dual is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.

St. Cloud State comes into this dual currently ranked as the number one team in the nation via the National Wrestling Coaches Association. In the latest standings, the Huskies accumulated 106 points thanks to their 10 ranked wrestlers which is tied for the most in the country. Central Oklahoma tallied 87 points to rank second and were followed by Wisconsin Parkside (76.5), McKendree (59.5), and Nebraska Kearney (52).

St. Cloud State kicked off their dual season a week and a half ago as they faced off against RV Sioux Falls at Halenbeck Hall.

The dual started off at 174 pounds where Bryce Dagel quickly put the Huskies on the board with a pin in one minute and 54 seconds. Tyson Meyer followed up Dagel at 184 pounds where he tallied an even quicker pin with the fall coming at one minute and 24 seconds. With the Huskies holding a 12-0 lead, No. 4 Dominic Murphy extended that lead with a 17-1 tech fall victory. St. Cloud State continued to roll as No. 2 La'Ron Parks came away with a 10-2 major decision and then No. 6 Conor Knopick pinned Jaxton Packer in one minute and 31 seconds to send SCSU into the break holding a 27-0 lead. Coming out of the break, No. 6 Sam Spencer kept the momentum with a 14-3 major decision. Sioux Falls would put points on the board as Jordon Oehme captured a 16-2 major decision against Caleb Meekins. No. 2 Colby Njos responded with a 12-2 major decision of his own to set the score at 35-4. St. Cloud State closed out the dual with a 19-1 tech fall victory by No. 7 Joel Jesuroga and then a pin in one minute and 34 seconds by No. 5 Nick Novak. The Huskies would walk away with a dominant 46-4 victory and start the year 1-0.

SCSU burst out of the gates with tech falls in five of the first six matches to take a 31-0 lead. Those tech falls would come from Nick Novak, Bryce Dagel, Tyson Meyer, Dominic Murphy, and Donnie Hidden. Sam Spencer and Colby Njos each tacked on a tech fall as St. Cloud State would win 48-0 with nine bonus point victories and seven tech falls.

The Dragons have beaten Northland College, Vanguard University, and San Francisco State while falling to Northern State. The Dragons came into this season projected to finish ninth in the NSIC after going 2-10 with a 1-8 record in conference play.
