Huskies allow eight ninth-inning runs, Navratil and Bevacqua homer for SCSU

HOUSTON, Texas – St. Cloud State Baseball (1-1, 0-0 NSIC) dropped the second game of the Houston Winter Invitational to Arkansas Tech, 9-4, on Saturday afternoon at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. The Huskies held a 4-1 lead heading into the ninth inning, but then gave up eight runs in the ninth to drop the game.

Junior Ethan Navratil (Albany, Minn.) and junior Garrett Bevacqua (Carlsbad, Calif.) launched solo home runs in the third and eighth innings, respectively, to spark the Husky offense in the game while redshirt junior Luke Tupy (New Prague, Minn.) was solid in his first start of the season, going 4.1 innings with four strikeouts while allowing only one run.

With the loss, SCSU moves to 3-4 all-time against Arkansas Tech.

Navratil launched his 10^th career home run with his third inning blast.
Bevacqua hit his second home run as a Husky in the eighth inning.
Tupy allowed just one hit and one earned run over 4.1 IP.
Junior Christian Lessman (Spicer, Minn.) made his SCSU debut, pitching 3.2 innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out four.
