
Three SCSU Men’s Basketball Players Earn Academic All-District® Honors

Mutimer, Taylor and Willert cited by CSC for academic and athletics performance
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three St. Cloud State Men's Basketball student-athletes have been named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Senior Joe Mutimer (Melbourne, Australia), graduate Luke Taylor (Germantown, Wis.) and senior Matt Willert (Buffalo, Minn.) earned the honor for their success in the classroom and on the court. Taylor and Willert were also honored after the 2022-23 season.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 17, 2024.

Mutimer carries a 3.50 cumulative grade point average as a Psychology major. He led the team in assists (2.7/game) and was fourth in minutes played (20.0) this season. Mutimer played in 95 games over four years for the Huskies, scoring 444 points, dishing out 187 assists and grabbing 179 rebounds. He is a two-time Academic All-NSIC honoree (2021-22, 2022-23).
Taylor has a 4.0 GPA in his Biological Sciences graduate program. This season, he shot 51.2% (104-of-203) from the field this season. Taylor was also the third leading scorer (9.6) and rebounder (3.7). He played 91 games over four seasons for the Huskies scoring 817 points (9.0/game) and grabbing 336 rebounds (3.7/game). Taylor is now a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree (2022-23). He is also a three-time NSIC Academic Team of Excellence member (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23) and a three-time Academic All-NSIC honoree (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23).
Willert has a 3.69 GPA and is double majoring in Addiction Counseling and Community Psychology. He was the team's leading qualifying free throw shooter this season (85.7% / 42-of-49) and was fourth in scoring (9.0/game). He played in 103 games for the Huskies over four years, scoring 1,192 points (11.6/game), grabbing 424 rebounds (4.1/game), nabbing 53 steals and blocking 53 shots. He finished his career No. 31 on the scoring list (1,192), No. 2 on the career free throw percentage list (86.3% / 208-of-241), tied for No. 8 on the career three point makes list (196), No. 19 on the career blocks list (53) and No. 2 on the single-game three pointers list (eight). Willert is now a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree (2022-23). He has also been an NSIC Academic Team of Excellence member (2022-23) and is a two-time Academic All-NSIC honoree (2021-22, 2022-23).
The Huskies wrapped up their 2023-24 season of competition with a 12-17 record (8-14 NSIC), falling in the first round of the NSIC Tournament to Southwest Minnesota State.
