Gentry Leads No. 11 St. Cloud State Women’s Hockey to Opening Series Sweep Over Lindenwood

Gentry tallies two goals and an assist, 10 Huskies record a point in 6-2 rout of Lindenwood
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – No. 11 St. Cloud State Women's Hockey (2-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA) continued its strong start to the 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon, beating Lindenwood 6-2, at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Huskies secured a sweep in its season opening series for the fourth straight season.
Eleven Huskies posted a point with two multi-point performers - fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) and sophomore forward Alice Sauriol (Sherbrooke, Quebec). Gentry scored the Huskies first and last goal, while assisting on one as well – logging her 18th career multi-point game and fourth career three-point game. It was Sauriol's second career multi-point game.
SCSU outshot the Lions (0-2-0, 0-0-0 AHA) 35-22 and went 6-for-6 on the penalty kill today and have started the season going a perfect 11-for-11. The power play went 1-for-3 and has begun the season connecting at a 50% clip (4-for-8).
Fifth year goaltender Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) earned her second win in as many games to start the season. She saved 20 of the 22 shots she faced.
Gentry opened the scoring with an even strength goal halfway through the first period with assists from Sauriol and senior defender Taylor Larson (Nisswa, Minn.). Early in the second period, Lindenwood scored its first goal of the season to bring the game even at one before SCSU responded with a three-goal barrage in just over three minutes during the latter stages of the period.
Sophomore forward Laura Zimmermann (Ringgenberg, Switzerland) started the Huskies run with an even strength goal with 5:40 remaining in the second period – she was assisted by sophomore forward Sofianna Sundelin (Ulvia, Finland) and fifth year forward Avery Myers (Fargo, N.D.). Sophomore forward Greta Henderson (Regina, Saskatchewan) followed Zimmermann's goal up with an unassisted snipe at the 3:08 mark. Just 51 seconds later, sophomore defender Carmen Bray (Nanaimo, British Columbia) scored her first career NCAA goal with assists coming from Gentry and fifth year forward Abby Promersberger (Fargo, N.D.).
In the final period, freshman forward Marie Moran (Lakeville, Minn.) also tallied her first career collegiate goal after she stole the puck in front of the net and put it away. Gentry scored the second SCSU buzzer beating goal in as many days when she found the back of the net as time expired in the game – she was assisted by senior defender Grace Wolfe (Owatonna, Minn.) and Sauriol.

- Ahola has made 38 saves through the first two games and owns a .950 save percentage while earning two wins with one shutout.
- Larson tallied her 10th point as a Husky and tied her career-best, skating to a +2 mark.

- Promersberger posted an assist for the second straight game and now has 15 for her collegiate career.
