
Olson’s Career Day Leads Huskies to 2-0 Victory over Wayne State

Olson scored 78 seconds into the game and again on a penalty kick in the 14th minute
WAYNE, Neb. – Led by a career-high two goals from sophomore defender Grace Olson (West Des Moines, Iowa), St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (6-2-0, 3-1-0 NSIC) beat Wayne State (3-3-2, 2-1-1 NSIC), 2-0, on Sunday afternoon in Wayne. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Meriel Orham (St. Michael, Minn.) made four saves in net to record her third shutout of the season while the Huskies moved its unbeaten streak against the Wildcats to seven games.
TURNING POINT
SCSU didn't wait long to jump on Wayne State and take control of the game, as Olson scored just 78 seconds into the game on a corner kick from sophomore forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.). Trapino's set piece came into the box untouched and Olson was able to get a head on it and redirect it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. Olson then scored again in the 14th minute on a penalty kick to double the Huskies lead. Trapino was taken down in the box the cause the penalty kick.

- The Huskies have won four consecutive games against the Wildcats and have improved its unbeaten streak to seven against Wayne State. SCSU's last loss against WSC came on Oct. 23, 2016, a 3-1 setback in St. Cloud.

- Olson doubled her career goals from two to four with her first career two-goal game.
- Olson now has 11 career points with four goals and three assists.
- Trapino logged her fourth career assist and now has 22 career points with nine goals and four assists.
- Orham recorded her third shutout of the season to improve to 6-2-0 on the season with a 0.63 goals-against-average and .844 save percentage.
- Three Huskies – Orham, sophomore defender Ana Spaine (West Des Moines, Iowa) and freshman defender Izzy Halunen (Woodbury, Minn.) – all played a full 90 minutes.
