The 13 newcomers join six high school signees from the fall
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Baseball head coach Pat Dolan has announced the additions 13 transfers from the Division-I, Division-II and junior college ranks to finish out the 2025 recruiting class. The group of 13 athletes will join the six signees who signed with the team during the early signing period in December 2024.
"In the new recruiting world with the transfer portal we've made the decision and moved in the direction like so many other great programs in getting older and more experienced players," said Dolan. "We have been much more selective with high school recruits and will be bringing in smaller classes. As much as I wished our old style of recruiting high school players, redshirting them and then having them here for five years as your main recruiting plan, we need to adapt to the times."
We've accepted that our top, high end impact players are going to go to Division-I or power-five schools if given the opportunity," said Dolan. "We are very proud of the fact we had five of our former players or commits play in the NCAA Division-I regional tournament and one in the College World Series. With those players getting new opportunities to play at the highest level of collegiate baseball, it has forced us to pivot with our recruiting plan to a new style."
SCSU has had a high level of success in the transfer portal over the last handful of seasons, securing talent for both position players in Sam Riola (two-time All-American, NSIC Player of the Year), Tate Wallat (NSIC Gold Glove) and Cal James (All-NSIC First Team) and pitchers in Ryan Duffy (professional contract), Payton VanBeck (9-4, 4.29 ERA in two seasons) and Frankie Volkers (third in saves among NSIC closers, professional contract). Last season, a number of key contributors, including All-NSIC sections redshirt senior Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and junior Wilmis Castro (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), made their way to Husky land via the portal and decided to remain in St. Cloud for this season.
"And I do want to point out and thank guys like Liam Moreno, Wyatt Tweet and Wilmis Castro who could've taken mid major offers," said Dolan. "And other seniors like Bryce Brassfield, Cael Kolacia, and Eric Bello who all could've went on the portal and had options, but they all committed to staying for their senior year. This is huge for us and a trend that we hope to continue. We have to do everything possible to make our upperclassman finish what they started at Husky land and that we are doing with some new implementations to our program!"
The landscape of collegiate athletics has certainly changed over the past decade, and that is ever apparent with the roster breakdown of the 2026 St. Cloud State Baseball team, with nearly half of its roster coming to St. Cloud via the portal. Dolan has been busy keeping up with the changing landscape and views this as an opportunity to adapt to the changing times.
"15 years ago, I think I went to 300 games a summer and now the only games we really go are when we're trying to close the deal with a top recruit," said Dolan. "The majority of the recruiting is done through the portal and then continuing to develop relations with D-I coaches along with the elite club team directors and junior college coaches in addition to attending the high school showcases. This has been the busiest last four months in my 30 years putting together what we feel is a championship caliber team. I really think all the hard work we put in is going pay off with the team we've put together."
"Ethan Navratil obviously had a big-time year as a senior last season, but at this time last year he was our only returning position player with over 100 at-bats and double-digit extra bases. This season, we have more than 1,300 returning at-bats and well over 100 extra base hits. On the mound last season, Cael Kolacia was our only pitcher returning with over 12 innings pitched. This season, we have a number of experienced arms returning with more than 150 innings pitched. This is the formula for success along with our recruiting class we feel we are going to be back in the hunt for championships. We know how much work we have with the competitiveness of our conference and region and are ready to get to work."
DYLAN DEBILZEN / MINNESOTA CROOKSTON / OF
Dylan Debilzen moves from NSIC foe Minnesota Crookston to the Huskies after one of the best freshman seasons in Golden Eagle history, earning All-NSIC Second Team and All-Defensive Team honors in 2025. The Parkers Prairie native started all but one game in center field, leading the team in hitting at .356 with 47 runs scored, 13 doubles, one home run and 28 RBI. He stole a team-high 14 bases and posted a .422 on-base percentage. In the field, he had a .992 fielding percentage with 122 putouts and one outfield assist. At Parkers Prairie, he was a two-time All-Park Region Conference selection and earned All-State accolades.
"As much as we all don't like the portal, with movement in-conference, the bottom line is we had holes to fill," said Dolan. "Dylan is a big-time player being a returning all-conference selection. And we had a major need for a center fielder and top of the order hitter and he's exactly that. He runs like a gazelle in the outfield and is gritty hard-nosed player that just loves the game and grinds out at-bats."
JOHAN FERREIRA / 3B
A native of Santo Domingo, Dominic Republic, Johan Ferreria joins the Huskies after three seasons in the Dominic Summer League where he showed great power and speed on the base paths. In the 2025 summer season alone, Ferreira hit .415 with a 1.212 OPS, five doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases in 15 games.
"Johan keeps our pipeline from the Dominican Republic coming and good friends with current senior Wilmis Castro," said Dolan. "Another big body versatile player that can hit the long ball and had a monster summer putting up big-time numbers in a great Dominican league."
HAYDEN FRANK / ST. CLOUD TECHNICAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE / LHP/OF
After starting his career as a Husky, Hayden Frank transferred to St. Cloud Technical & Community College midway through his freshman campaign and now returns for his junior campaign. Frank helped the Cyclones reach the 2024 NJCAA DIII World Series before earning 2025 NJCAA Division III Second Team All-American honors. Frank led NJCAA Division III in hitting at .514 with a .609 OBP, six home runs, 44 RBI and a program record 75 hits. On the mound, Frank went 6-3 with a 1.98 ERA and 79 strikeouts while not allowing a home run all season.
"He's back!" said Dolan. "We signed Hayden out of high school and then he moved to the Tech college where he became not only an All-American but hit over .500 and set the program record for hits in a season. He had opportunities to go Division-I but decided to come back to finish what we started. We are very fortunate he wanted to be a Husky and expect him to be right at the top of our weekend starters while also fighting for playing time in the outfield."
ETHAN HENRY / OAKLAND / LHP
A lefty standout from Grand Rapids, Mich., Ethan Henry joins the Huskies after two seasons at Oakland University in Michigan with three years of eligibility remaining. Henry redshirted the 2024 season for Oakland before making five appearances in 2025 where he pitched 3.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout. As a prep at South Christian High School in Grand Rapids, Henry served as captain his senior season, was named the team's pitcher of the year twice (2021, 2023) and led the team in strikeouts twice (2021, 2023).
"Unlike many previous seasons prior, we really lacked established left-handed pitchers last year and we really feel Ethan is going to fit that role," said Dolan. "He had some dominant seasons in high school averaging 13 strikeouts per nine innings and he is a team-orientated person that we saw from day one when he came in for his visit."
NICK IBRAHIM / CENTURY COLLEGE & SIUE / 1B-OF
Hailing from Woodbury, Nick Ibrahim returns to his home state after a stop at D-I Southern Illinois Edwardsville where he hit .233 with a .748 OPS, two home runs and 14 RBI in 17 games in 2024. Prior to his time at SIUE, Ibrahim spent two seasons at Century College in White Bear Lake where he earned NJCAA All-America, Region 13 Player of the Year and Gold Glove honors in the 2023 season. In his banner sophomore campaign, Ibrahim hit .460 with a 1.283 OPS, eight home runs, 17 doubles, 46 RBI and eight stolen bases.
"Nick has gone through the injury bug recently but is finally healthy and we are excited to have him as a Husky," said Dolan. "He's a proven player after becoming a junior college All-American at national powerhouse in Century College and then playing a year of Division-I baseball at SIUE. He's got a big-time bat, and also is versatile in the field playing the corner outfield positions along with his primary position at first base."
PARKER LEWIN / MINNESOTA / RHP
Parker Lewin joins the Huskies after spending his first two collegiate seasons at D-I Minnesota where he redshirted his freshman campaign and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. As a prep at Orono High School, Lewin was a two-way standout and three-year starter for the Spartans on the mound and at the plate. In his senior season, he was named All-Section, All-Conference and was selected for the Play Ball! Minnesota All Star team. As a junior, he garnered Metro West All-Conference honorable mention honors after he posted a .701 OPS and a .357 OBP to go along with 17 hits and 10 RBI. On the mound, Lewin totaled 22 innings pitched to go along with 35 strikeouts and posted a team-best .180 opposing batting average.
"We recruited Parker initially as a high school player before he signed with the Gophers," said Dolan. "Coach McDevitt and Coach Crawford have said nothing but great things about Parker and we've seen that early on. He had a great summer closing games for his summer league team. With Frankie Volkers signing a professional contract, we have that role to fill, and we believe Parker can be that guy."
SETH LUTHER / CENTURY / RHP
A native of Victoria, Minn., Seth Luther joins the Huskies after helping Century College reach the 2025 NJCAA Division III World Series and finish as the national runner-up. The 6-foot-3 righthanded pitcher made 13 appearances and six starts on the mound, recording a 5-1 record with two saves, a 4.85 ERA and 11.09 K/9 in 39.0 innings. For his work in the classroom, Luther earned 2025 MCAC and NJCAA All-Academic honors.
"Seth is another backend reliever that we lacked last season who comes from another junior college powerhouse at Century and was recruited by other D-II programs in our region," said Dolan. "We were really impressed with his last appearance in the NJCAA World Series where he struck out eight hitters in four innings."
GRANT MARSHALL / ROCK VALLEY / LHP
Grant Marshall joins the Huskies after two successful seasons at Rock Valley Junior College in Illinois. In his 2025 sophomore campaign, Marshall made 11 appearances and seven starts on the mound, posting a 5-2 record with a 4.15 ERA, 29 strikeouts and a .208 opposing batting average. In his freshman campaign, Marshall posted a program record 1.83 ERA over 34.1 innings with a 3-2 record in 13 appearances and six starts.
"We started a good pipeline last year with Rock Valley, recruiting two talented players who helped us out last season," said Dolan. We believe Grant fills a left-handed bullpen roll that we really didn't have last year."
NOAH MATHENY / MICHIGAN STATE & SIUE / RHP
An experienced pitcher with appearances in five seasons at two Division-I programs and three seasons with 20+ innings pitched, Noah Matheny joins the Huskies after three seasons at Michigan State (2023-25) and two seasons at Southern Illinois Edwardsville (2021-22). JOSH MCGUIN / DODGE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, JEFFERSON COLLEGE, SOUTH DAKOTA STATE / C
Josh McGuin joins the Huskies after stops at South Dakota State (2023), Jefferson College (2024) and Dodge City Community College (2025). In 2025, McGuin hit .341 with a 1.018 OPS, five home runs, 10 doubles and 37 RBI for Dodge City. McGuin redshirted at South Dakota State in 2023 and played six games for Jefferson City in 2024.
"Josh had numerous other D-II offers including in the NSIC after his time at South Dakota State and two juco stops where he put up some big-time numbers," said Dolan. "He's a proven left-handed bat and very versatile with being able to play other positions other than his primary catcher."
EAMONN MULHERN / MILWAUKEE & MADISON COLLEGE / RHP
Eamonn Mulhern comes to St. Cloud State after two seasons at Madison College (2023-24) and one season at D-I UW-Milwaukee (2025). Smith helped lead Southern Nevada to the Region 1 title game in 2025 and made an appearance in the 2024 NJCAA World Series.
"Logan is one of those versatile arms that can do a little of everything, which he did at national powerhouse Southern Nevada last season," said Dolan. He's a strike thrower, which will be a useful asset out of the bullpen this season."
SETH TIERNEY / CENTURY / 1B
A two-time Juco All-American, Seth Tierney joins the Huskies after two extremely successful seasons at Century College where he hit .363 with a 1.168 OPS, 34 home runs and 141 RBI. Tierney helped lead Century College to a national runner-up finish at the 2025 NJCAA Division III World Series, earning NJCAA First Team All-American and All-Region XIII/All-MCAC First Team honors after hitting .350 with a 1.090 OPS, 14 home runs, 63 RBI and 42 runs in 55 games. He earned 2024 NJCAA First Team All-American honors as well after hitting .376 with a 1.250 OPS, 20 home runs, 81 RBI and 11 doubles.
"Wow! 35 home runs in 140+ RBIs in two years of college baseball," said Dolan. Seth has made a big commitment with his body and he's becoming so much more versatile, but his bat is what we recruited and we expect him to be in the middle part of our order.
