Compton Scores in St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer’s 1-1 Draw With CSP

Compton nets second goal of the season in 11th minute
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (8-1-4, 6-1-3 NSIC) and Concordia-St. Paul (8-2-3, 5-2-3 NSIC) played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. Junior midfielder Cady Compton (Ankeny, Iowa) sparked the Huskies offense with her second goal of the season in the 11th minute.
TURNING POINT
Compton finished a Husky rush that started with senior Ellie Primerano (Saint Joseph, Mich.) charging up the left side of the field and getting past the Golden Bear defender. She sent a pass to the middle of the box that was touched by junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) and sent to the right side of the box where Compton was ready to finish the play with a right footed kick that found the back of the net.
CSP would then score in the 23rd minute on a corner kick to force the draw.

- Redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made five saves in net for the Huskies.
- With the draw, SCSU moves to 11-6-8 all-time against Concordia-St. Paul.
- Compton recorded her second goal of the season and third of her career.
- Trapino recorded her third assist and 13th point of the season while Primerano recorded her second assist and 10th point.
- With five stops, Strickland recorded her second-most saves in a game this season, trailing only the six she made at UMary (Sept. 21).
- Four Huskies, Strickland, senior midfielder Brooke Quam (Lakeville, Minn.), junior defender Ana Spaine (West Des Moines, Iowa) and sophomore midfielder Izzy Halunen (Woodbury, Minn.) all played a full 90 minutes in the game.
