
Kardelis Nets Game-Winner for St. Cloud State Women’s Soccer in 1-0 Win over Minnesota Crookston

Huskies improve to 6-0-3 on the road this season and reach 10 victories for third consecutive season
CROOKSTON, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (10-1-4, 8-1-3 NSIC) won its second consecutive game and pushed its unbeaten streak to five with a 1-0 win over Minnesota Crookston (1-12-2, 0-11-1 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon in Crookston, Minn. Sophomore midfielder Jordan Kardelis (Muskego, Wis.) scored the game-winning goal in the 35th minute for the Huskies.
TURNING POINT
In a defensive battle on a very windy day, SCSU pushed the pace with six shots on goal and four corner kicks and eventually broke through in the 35th minute with the game's lone goal. Kardelis and junior forward Linsey Trapino (Verona, Wis.) attacked the box on the charge with Kardelis feeding Trapino in the middle before she touch passed the ball back to Kardelis on the right side, who kicked the ball through traffic and beat the goalie to the far left side for the goal.

SCSU will return to Central Minnesota for its final two home games of the season against Wayne State on Friday, Oct. 31 and Augustana on Sunday, Nov. 2. With on-going construction on the Husky Dome, the games will be held at the CSB Outdoor Complex in St. Joseph, Minn.

- Head Coach Gretta Macdonald is now one win away from her 100th career victory, as she currently sits at 99-70-35.
- SCSU recorded its 10th win of the season, marking just the ninth time in program history the Huskies have reached 10 wins. SCSU has reached 10 wins for the third consecutive season, a feat that has only been accomplished one other time (2009-11).
- SCSU improves to 6-0-3 on the road this season and is one win away from matching its most road wins in a season in program history.
- Kardelis scored for the second consecutive game while recording her first career game-winning goal.
- Trapino recorded her fourth career assist, marking a new career high for assists in a season.
- Strickland recorded her eighth shutout of the season and 16th of her career. Her eight shutouts rank third in SCSU history for a single season while her 16 career shutouts rank second.
