Allen Strikes Twice to Finish Comeback in Huskies' 2-1 Win over Augustana

Allen records first career multi-goal game with goals in 69th and 75 minutes
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Sophomore midfielder Darby Allen (Minnetonka, Minn.) scored two second half goals to lift St. Cloud State Women's Soccer (12-1-4, 10-1-3 NSIC) to a 2-1 victory over Augustana (10-4-3, 8-4-2 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon at the CSB Soccer Field in St. Joseph, Minn. The Huskies trailed 1-0 heading into the second half before Allen scored in the 69th and 75th minutes to complete the comeback and seal the victory.
 
TURNING POINT
 
SCSU found itself trailing after Augustana's Madelyn White scored her NSIC-leading 12th goal in the 31st minute. The Huskies came out aggressive in the second half and played much of the period in its offensive zone. The attacking approach paid off in the 69th minute when a Husky shot attempt was saved but bounced out to Allen, who ripped a shot from about 20 yards out and beat the Viking goalkeeper to tie the game. Just six minutes later, Allen stroke again on a free kick opportunity from around 40 yards out. Her attempt got over the Viking goalkeeper and gave the Huskies the lead with just over 15 minutes to play.

SCSU will finish the regular season on the road against No. 2 Minnesota State on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m. CT.

 - Redshirt sophomore Jaylee Strickland (Columbus, Ohio) made four saves and earned her 12th victory of the season in net.
 
- With the win, SCSU pulls even in the all-time series with Augustana at 12-12-6.
 - The win matched a program record for conference wins at 10, pulling even with the 2019 and 2023 teams.
 - SCSU earned its 12th win of the season, the third-most in any season in program history after 14 wins in 2023 and 13 wins in 1995.
 - With the win, the Huskies clinched a top-four spot in the NSIC standings and will host a home game for the NSIC Quarterfinals on Monday Nov. 10.
 - Allen recorded her first career two-goal game with her sixth and seventh career goals.
 - Allen's second goal was her first career game-winning goal.
 - Strickland has been in net for all 12 wins this season and now only trails her own mark of 13 wins in 2023 and Alyssa Halverson's 13 wins in 1995 for the most wins in a single season in program history.
