
St. Cloud State Baseball Falls to USF in First Round of NSIC Tournament

Huskies will look to keep season alive with second round game vs. UMary on Thursday
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Baseball (26-25, 22-18 NSIC) fell to Sioux Falls (30-26, 25-15 NSIC), 10-2, in the first round of the 2025 NSIC Tournament on Wednesday in Sioux Falls. The Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two runs in the third and three in the fourth inning and the Huskies were unable to get back in the game.
Senior Blaine Guthrie (Emerald, Wis.) hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 5-1, but then USF responded with three runs in the sixth inning to push the lead back to 8-1. In the seventh inning, sophomore Wilmis Castro (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) hit a lead-off triple and later scored on a groundout double play.

SCSU will play UMary in the consolation first round at 12:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 8 at the Birdcage in Sioux Falls. If the Huskies were to win, they would play 45 minutes after game seven, which slate to start at 3:30 p.m. CT on the same field.
