St. Cloud State closed out their non-conference schedule this past week as they took on Jamestown and St. Thomas on the road.
The potent Huskies offense came out firing in the first half against Jamestown producing nine shots with eight landing on goal. St. Cloud State produced multiple great scoring opportunities, but Jamestown goalkeeper Dawid Chrobot came away with some key saves to keep the score tied 0-0 for most of the first half. Right before halftime on a throw-in, Owen Worsdell delivered a great pass into the box. Chrobot knocked the ball into the air. Another Jamestown player headed it after apex which went right in front of the goal. Flying in came freshman Yousif Atia who smashed the ball into the meshing with his head as SCSU took a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute. That score held up for the final minute of the half as St. Cloud State went into the break leading 1-0.
Coming out of halftime, the offense for SCSU stayed aggressive as they applied pressure onto the Jamestown defense. Following a defensive misplay by the Jimmies, Drew Macoritti found a streaking Andrés García down the middle of the field with only the keeper to beat. The Jamestown keeper came out to challenge García, but he flew right by him and saucered a shot into the back of the net, extending the Huskies lead to 2-0 in the 68th. The defense of St. Cloud State played a stout game all evening with the Jimmies only tallying two shots on goal which led to the score holding firm for another 20 minutes. With time ticking away, the Huskies generated another scoring opportunity to tack on a third goal. Macoritti fired a beautiful pass near the box to Atia. Looking to make a move, the ball was knocked away but found its way to Miklo Jones coming from the right wing. Jones blasted a shot that would be blocked but ricocheted to King Dwumah Acheampong right in front of the net. Dwumah Acheampong bolted a shot past the keeper to put the Huskies up 3-0 in the 88th minute. St. Cloud State locked down the Jimmies in the final two minutes to come away with their second win of the season.
Against St. Thomas on Saturday, the Tommies got off to a fast start as they scored two goals in the first 18 minutes of the game. St. Thomas tacked on another goal in the 40th minute as they went into halftime leading 3-0 with five shots on goal. St. Thomas continued their offensive surge in the second half as they scored another three goals. The Huskies got on the board in the 86th minute as Mahmood Maldonado knocked in a penalty kick. The Huskies were ultimately defeated 6-1 in St. Paul, Minn.

Friday's game against Davenport will be the 10th overall meeting between the programs. The Huskies are 0-7-2 all-time against the Panthers since they started their series in 2021. The teams faced off twice last year with Davenport taking both games.
In Grand Rapids, Mich., the Panthers got the scoring started in the 7th minute after Davenport drilled a ball deep into the Huskies defensive zone. St. Cloud State misplayed the ball and Drew Matyunas made the Huskies pay to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Davenport created another transition opportunity in the 19th as they forced a one-on-one opportunity. Easton Lopez took advantage of that opportunity as he gave Davenport a 2-0 lead early in the game. The Panthers held that lead for the remainder of the half as they went into the break leading 2-0. After another quiet first half for the Huskies, the tides began to turn as they found new energy coming out of the break. In the 61st minute, Philip Caputo broke down the defense as he dribbled the ball into the box. Caputo then dumped it down to Rhys Ward who chipped in the goal off his right foot to cut the lead down to one. The Huskies offense continued to hum in the second half as they generated eight corner kicks and multiple great opportunities right at the doorstep but were unable to find the equalizer the rest of the game. St. Cloud State went on to be defeated 2-1 against Davenport.
At Husky Stadium for game two, the Huskies nearly got on the board in the first 20 seconds as Mika Folstad was fouled in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Folstad stepped up and fired a shot into the bottom left corner that would be saved by Beau Hudd of Davenport. St. Cloud State continued to put pressure on the Panthers to start the game as Owen Worsdell fired a shot into the bottom right corner that would be saved and then Rhys Ward struck the right post on a shot. The two teams continued to trade blows, but neither were able to find the back of the net in the first half. Davenport drew first blood in the game as an errant pass by the Huskies landed to Valerii Burlacenco who scored on the opportunity. The Panthers took a 1-0 at the 54 minute mark and never looked back. Despite giving up 16 shots with seven landing on goal, Davenport shutout the Huskies as they took down St. Cloud State by a score of 1-0.
Sunday's game against Saginaw Valley State will also be the 10th overall meeting between the programs. St. Cloud State is 0-6-3 all-time against the Cardinals. The teams played twice in 2024 with SVSU taking both games.

The Huskies offense started to create chances in the second half as Philip Caputo drew a penalty in the box, setting up a penalty kick. Caputo was the one to take the shot and had it saved by goalkeeper Nick Kay, hindering the Huskies momentum. The Huskies were blanketed the entire game by the Cardinal defense as they were held to five shots on the game with only one coming on goal. Saginaw Valley State scored their third goal of the game in the 66th minute. The Huskies ultimately got shutout as their seven-game winning streak was snapped and they picked up their first conference loss of the season.
With the second game at Husky Stadium, the Cardinals got the scoring started in the 12th as Jayden Cameron knocked in a goal from Felix Tom. The Cardinals would strike again late in the first half as Mzo Mthembu executed a goal off a free kick. SVSU would go into halftime leading the St. Cloud State 2-0. The Huskies offense struggled mightily in the first half as they only produced two shots with none coming on goal. The offense picked up in the second half for the Huskies as they tallied 10 shots in the half with four coming on goal. St. Cloud State made a late surge in the game as Eduardo Balduino put the Huskies on the board with a goal in the 79th minute. The Huskies were unable to strike twice as they would be defeated 2-1.
Scouting Davenport

The Panthers are coming off a 9-8-4 record in 2024 where they reached the GLIAC tournament. Davenport beat Wisconsin-Parkside 2-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to Roosevelt 0-1 in the semifinals. The win against UW-Parkside was enough to propel them into the NCAA Tournament, but they fell 0-1 to Fort Hayes State in the first round. Davenport came into this season projected to finish fourth in the GLIAC.
The Panthers return some of their key contributors from last year's squad to 2025 including Easton Lopez, Austin Hall, and Beau Hudd.
