
Huskies Defeat Truman State to Open the 2026 Season

Andrés García scores three to lead the Huskies to victory
Kirksville, MO - St. Cloud Men's Soccer kicked off the regular season today at Truman State University (TSU) in Kirksville, MO and came out on top with a 3-2 victory at Stokes Stadium.
Just 6 minutes into the first half, Senior Forward Andrew Holmes rifled a shot on goal that was saved by TSU Keeper, Owen Robben. Andrés García followed up Holmes with a shot on goal in the 17th minute that was stopped again by Robben. In the 35th minute, the Huskies made their first substitutions of the game bringing in Alvin Bropleh for García, King Acheampong for Matteo Bosch, and Diego Ramos for Yousif Atia. Towards the end of the half in the 41st minute, Drew Macoritti subbed in for Santiago Martin, who made his Husky debut tonight. Right before the halftime whistle, Diego Ramos found a good look, firing a shot on goal before Robben made his third save of the half.
Huskies started the 2nd half with starters back on the pitch and immediately made an impact in the 47th minute as Andrés García scored the goal over the top of Robben off the feed from André Walters, to put the Huskies out in front 1-0. The Bulldogs responded quickly in the 54th minute, as Jacob Panagos put it past Erik Willke to tie it 1-1. In the 56th minute, the Bulldog attack quickly pressured the Huskies, then Tyler Bouckaert found an opening and fired a shot, but Erik Willke stood strong and made his first career save as a Husky. Marlon Seahorn Jr. made his Husky debut subbing into the game in the 61st minute. Willke would become of great importance once again as he came up with back-to-back saves in the 64th minute, stopping a shot from Zoran Sabbert and Landon Keisker.
The Truman State attack continued in the 2nd half as Brady Lombardo scored in the 66th minute on the assist from Slayton Spencer to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. In the 69th minute, Kingsley Kanu checked back into the game and Armaan Sekhon came on to the pitch to make his Husky debut. A couple minutes later in the 71st minute, Diego Ramos and Drew Macoritti checked back into the game.
In the 75th minute, Andrés García received the pass from Santiago Martin to score once again for the Huskies, coming up big to equalize the game at 2. In the 81st minute, Truman State's Brady Blum had a shot on goal with a chance to take the lead, but Willke came up big for the Huskies making the low right save. As time winded down in the 2nd half, Yousif Atia checked back in the game for Kingsley Kanu. In the 87th minute, a foul was committed by the Bulldogs Nolan Pinkley to set up a penalty kick for SCSU. The Huskies gave it to the hot boot, Andrés García, who converted his third goal of the night to make it 3-2 Huskies with just three minutes to go. Kanu checked into the game for Seahorn Jr. in the 87th minute, before the final whistle would blow, and the Huskies would go on to win their opening game of the season.
