Huskies attempt to make a second half comeback but fall short

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (3-8-1, 1-5-1 GLIAC) fell to Saginaw Valley State (6-1-4, 4-1-2 GLIAC) 3-1 at Husky Stadium this afternoon.

Saginaw Valley State drew a foul in the box in the 24th minute, which awarded them a penalty, creating a 1-0 lead for the Cardinals. The Husky defense held strong throughout the remainder of the first half, as they trailed 1-0 going into the locker room.

After the break, Saginaw Valley State had an opportunity with a two-on-one; Husky keeper Erik Willke came up with a spectacular first save, but the rebound found the back of the netting to put the Cardinals up two in the 60th minute.

Marlon Seahorn Jr. was the spark the Huskies needed in the 66th minute, as he came onto the pitch and scored a gorgeous header within his first 40 seconds on the field, off a beautiful feed from Kingsley Kanu. The Seahorn Jr. goal made it 2-1. Throughout the remainder of the second half, the Huskies battled hard and lost themselves on the back line, giving the game-sealing goal to the Cardinals in the 85th minute, as they'd go on to win 3-1.
