SCSU defeated by Davis & Elkins, takes game two against Saginaw Valley State
GAME 1 – D&E 11, SCSU 5
St. Cloud State opened the scoring in the top of the first, loading the bases on three walks before a wild pitch allowed redshirt senior Liam Moreno (Sun Prairie, Wis.) to come home. From there, the Huskies surrendered four runs in the bottom of the first on two walks, two errors, and just one hit. SCSU would trail the rest of the game and were unable to capitalize on multiple free passes from Senators pitching. The Huskies would load the bases again in the third and fourth but came up empty.
Davis & Elkins would score five more in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 9-1, before SCSU would get one back in the fifth. Redshirt freshman Jack Clark (Solon, Iowa) walked and advanced around the bases on three wild pitches. The Senators added two more across the fifth and seventh to jump the lead to 11-2.
The Huskies would strike for two in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from Moreno and a RBI groundout from senior Wyatt Tweet (Russell, Manitoba). In the ninth, senior Nick Ibrahim (Woodbury, Minn.) hit a solo home run to right field with two outs in the ninth for his first SCSU home run to round out the scoring.
