2014: Appeared in 47 games and made 47 starts in the 2014 season…recorded 167 at bats, 35 runs and 64 hits for the Huskies…finished with nine stolen bases, 209 putouts and 27 assists…had 46 RBIs and 15 doubles…recorded a .438 on base percentage and a .611 slugging percentage…finished the season off with a .383 batting average…recorded a season-high four hits against Minot State (March 14, 2014)…finished with a season-high five RBIs against the University of Jamestown (March 15, 2014)…2014 All-Conference Second Team.
2013: A 2013 All-NSIC Academic award recipient...played in 37 games and earned 34 starts for the Huskies...110 at bats, which included a .300 batting average, 25 runs, 33 hits, 22 RBIs and 13 doubles...he also posted one triple and one homer for the Huskies along with 132 putouts and 11 assists on defense...enjoyed 10 multi-hit games in 2013...hit two doubles in three games during the 2013 season...had three hits (and two doubles) against Missouri Western on April 15...had five hits in NCAA Regional tournament play in 2013.
2012: Played in 48 and started 35 games mainly as a catcher for the Huskies during his freshman campaign…batted .326 in 135 at-bats…recorded 44 hits and scored 21 runs…posted nine doubles, two triples and four home runs…drove in 34 runs and had 69 total bases…had a solid .511 slugging percentage…finished the year with a .388 on-base percentage…drew 13 walks… stole three bases…recorded 163 putouts and 23 assists defensively…had a stellar .989 fielding percentage…10 multi-hit games including a season best 4-for-5 game against Regis in the NCAA Central Region Tournament…nine multi-RBI games…drove in season-high five runs against Northern State (April 25)…NCAA Central Region All-Tournament Team member…NSIC All-Tournament Team Member.
2011: A redshirt at SCSU.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of Pacelli High School, where he earned four letters for coach Wayne Sankey…earned All-State honors as a junior and senior…was a three-time All-Conference selection…helped the Cardinals win three conference championships…also lettered three times in football and hockey…a two-time All-Conference selection in football…apart of three conference championship teams…recorded the highest batting average in school history with a .488 average…scored the most power play goals in the state during his senior season…a National Honor Society member.
PERSONAL: The son of Dan and Darci Jurgella of Plover, Wis…named Joe Mauer as his favorite sports personality…lists his dad as having the greatest influence on his career…named hitting a grand slam in his final high school baseball game as his greatest sports thrill…enjoys playing “The Show” and playing sports as his favorite hobbies outside of baseball…finance major at SCSU with a concentration in insurance.
