SCSU Volleyball Falls to Minnesota-Crookston

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State volleyball was defeated by Minnesota, Crookston this evening in Halenbeck Hall. The two teams met earlier this season, with St. Cloud sweeping Minn. Crookston 3-0 but just couldn't repeat a victory. The Huskies lost to the Golden Eagles in three straight sets with final scores of 26-28, 18-25 and 9-25.
The Huskies lost the first set after a 20-13 lead over the Golden Eagles (26-28). SCSU struggled through the second set as outside hitter #4 Shannon Klink was taken out due to injury. Freshmen Isabella Nelson stepped in for Klink. The Golden Eagles were leading the Huskies 20-10 as assistant coach Marci Taumalolo called a Husky timeout. The Huskies just weren't able to recover the second set as they fell to the Golden Eagles (18-25). Starting the third set the Huskies struggled offensively with multiple hitting errors, trailing the Golden Eagles 4-14. SCSU just wasn't able to make anything happen offensively tonight as they ended with 34 attack errors compared to the Golden Eagles 14 and losing the third set (9-25).
Macy Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) and Sophie Jaskulske (Maplewood, Minn.) led the Huskies in kills with 7.
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley, Minn.) recorded 22 assists and 14 digs.
Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) posted 17 digs against the Golden Eagles.
Kassi Green had a team-high 8 kills for the Golden Eagles.
The Huskies will return to action this weekend as they take on Minot State and University of Mary in Halenbeck Hall.
