SCSU Volleyball Weekly Notes

The St. Cloud State volleyball team is set to take on #2 Minnesota-Duluth, Augustana and #12 Wayne State this week. The Huskies will travel to Duluth Tuesday, Oct. 28 to take on the #2 Bulldogs. SCSU will return to their home court at Halenbeck Hall this weekend as they host Augustana College and #12 Wayne State College.

St. Cloud State Notes:

The Huskies are 7-16 overall and 1-14 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
They suffer from a 13 game losing streak; three of the losses coming from top 25 ranked teams.
Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) is ranked second in the NSIC for digs with a total of 396, averaging 5.08 digs per set.
Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley, Minn.) is number eight on the NSIC leader board. She has recorded 759 assists, averaging 9.73 assists per set.
Kaitlin Doughty (Tomahawk, Wis.) leads the Huskies in kills with 205, averaging 2.63 kills per set.

#2 University of Minnesota, Duluth Notes:

Minnesota-Duluth is ranked second in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs are 22-1 overall and 15-0 in conference play.
Duluth is on a sixteen game winning streak and is coming off two wins against Northern State (3-0) and MSU-Moorhead (3-1).
Mariah Scharf leads the Bulldogs offensively and is ranked seventh in the NSIC with 281 kills, averaging 3.9 kills per set.
Ashley Hinsch is number one in the conference for assists. She recorded 949, averaging 13.18 assists per set.
Julie Rainey leads the conference in digs with 416, averaging 5.78 digs per set.

Augustana College Notes:

Augustana is 15-8 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
The Vikings are coming off a win over Upper Iowa (3-1) and a loss to Winona State (2-3).
Becca Finley leads the NSIC in blocks with a total of 91, averaging 1.25 per set.
Courtney Ysker is ranked second in the conference with 356 kills, averaging four per set.
Tahlyr Banks leads the Vikings defensively with 423 digs, averaging 4.75 digs per set.

#12 Wayne State College Notes:

Wayne State is 20-4 overall and 12-3 in the NSIC.
The Wildcats are coming off two wins over Winona State (3-1) and Upper Iowa (3-0).
Leisa McClintock is ranked fifth in the NSIC in assists with 926, averaging 10.89 assists per set.
Katie Hughes leads the Wildcats offensively with 290 kills, averaging 3.41 kills per set.
Courtney VanGroningen leads the team defensively with 359 digs on the season, averaging 4.22 digs per set.
