Huskies Roll Past Bemidji State in Tucson, 18-9

Coming out in the first inning Bemidji State took a 1-0 lead over the Huskies as they had the bases loaded and a fielding error scored a run.
St. Cloud came right back though in the bottom half of the inning with runners on second and third, Zach Hoffmann hit a two-RBI single to left field making it a 2-1 game. Travis Enger would take the Huskies to a 4-1 lead with a double to left field, scoring Garrett Fischer and Zach Hoffmann.
In the bottom of the second inning Eric Loxtercamp got things going for the Huskies with a triple to left center. Hoffmann and Fischer both hit doubles in the inning to take the Huskies to a 7-1 lead over the Beavers.
The Beavers put up two runs in the top of the third inning for a 7-3 game but once again, SCSU came back to score one run off a single to center field by Michael Jurgella. Both teams traded runs in the fourth inning making it a 12-7 game. Enger recorded his second double of the game in the inning.
Continuing to move their lead, the Huskies put up three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it an 18-7 game. Making some big hits for St. Cloud was Max Ditty with a double to right field and Loxtercamp with his second triple of the game in the fifth inning.
Bemidji State tried to make a comeback in the top of the ninth inning as they put up two runs on two hits for a final score of 18-9.
Earning the start on the mound for the Huskies was Logan Spitzack pitching 3.1 innings to strike out three and allowed seven runs. Coming in to pitch relief was senior Scott Sanderson and pitcher of record, allowing only four hits in 3.2 innings of work and struck out three batters. Closing the game was junior Karsen Forsman for 2.0 innings. Sanderson posts his first victory of the season with the win over the Beavers.
St. Cloud State (8-3, 0-0 NSIC) will be back in action Wednesday, March 12 for a non-conference game with NSIC opponent Minot State University. Game time is set for 11 a.m. CT at the Kino Sports Complex here in Tucson.
