Huskies Battle Back to Defeat Minot State Wednesday, 3-2

Tucson, Ariz. - The St. Cloud State baseball team took on NSIC opponent Minot State University Wednesday in Tucson as the Huskies battled back to defeat the Beavers 3-2.
A scoreless game went through two and a half innings as defenses were strong allowing only four hits total in this time. In the bottom of the third inning Minot State broke the scoreless game as they brought in one run on a single up the middle for a 1-0 lead.
It was not until the top of the fifth inning that the Huskies would get things going to tie the game up 1-1. Kyle Lieser started the inning with a single to right field and was brought home as Eric Loxtercamp doubled to right center.
The Beavers regained the lead 2-1 putting up one run in the bottom of the fifth on a double to left center that would hold till the top of the eighth inning.
St. Cloud battled back from the one run deficit in the eighth inning with Michael Jurgella getting the bats going with a double to left field. Zach Hoffmann and Garrett Fischer both followed hitting singles to left field with Fischer earning the RBI to tie the game up 2-2.
Sealing the 3-2 victory over Minot State was Brandon Arnold hitting a single to right field scoring Loxtercamp from second base which he reached on a double to right center.
Earning his fourth win of the season on the mound for the Huskies was sophomore Reese Gregory as he pitched four innings of work to strike out five and allowed only five hits. Starting on the mound was Garrett Harrison for five innings of work to strike out three.
St. Cloud State (9-3, 0-0 NSIC) will take Thursday off and be back in action on Friday evening for their second game against Minot State University.
