A scoreless game held till the fifth inning when the Coyotes would take a 4-0 lead over the Huskies. But the Huskies came back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Zak Hoffman led off with a triple to right center. Kyle Lieser would single to center with one out scoring Hoffman to make it a 4-1 game. Eric Loxtercamp singled and was followed up with another single by Garrett Fischer for an RBI. With the bases loaded Zach Hoffmann posted a two-RBI single to right field for a 4-4 game. St. Cloud took over the lead as Karl Sorensen singled to left field on two outs scoring two runs for a 6-4 lead.
The Coyotes tied the game back up 6-6 with a two-out double to right field.
St. Cloud was not going down easy as they came back to score four runs in the bottom of the sixth off two singles by Fischer and Zach Hoffmann and one double by Michael Jurgella.
Starting on the mound for the Huskies was Kyle Fischer as he pitched five innings with two strikeouts. Earning the win for the Huskies was Reese Gregory as he pitched 2.1 innings, allowing only two hits and striking out three. Gregory now moves his record to 3-0 on the season.
The Huskies (7-2, 0-0 NSIC) will be back in action on Sunday, March 9 as they play Northern State University in a non-conference game here in Tucson, Arizona. Game time is set for 4 p.m. MT.
