In women's hockey action, the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (14-6-2, 9-6-3 WCHA) defeated the St. Cloud State Huskies (6-17-1, 3-13-1 WCHA) by a 2-0 tally on Saturday, January 17.

The Bulldogs' scored their first goal just two minutes into the game. The score remained 1-0 throughout the first and second periods. UMD extended their lead 2-0 when they found the back of the net on a backdoor, one-time shot, putting the puck past SCSU senior goaltender, Julie Friend.

SCSU was awarded 3 power plays in the game but was unable to capitalize, giving Duluth a shutout. Shots were 24 to 23 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The SCSU-UMD series continues on Sunday, January 18 at 3:07 pm at the Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minnesota.
