SCSU Baseball opens season with wins at Harding

The St. Cloud State University baseball team opened its 2015 season with a doubleheader sweep at Harding University on Feb. 26 in Searcy, Ark. Â In game one, the Huskies rolled to a 1-0 victory and then completed the day with a 4-3 victory at HU.
SCSU (2-0, 0-0 NSIC) will continue its Arkansas trip with games at Harding through March 1.
In game one, Reese Gregory pitched a complete game three-hitter that featured no runs allowed and eight strikeouts. Â The Huskies outhit HU 8-3 in the contest. Â SCSU's lone run was scored by Beau Fandel in the fifth inning. Â He singled to start the inning and then advanced to third on a double by Mike Jurgella. Â A wild pitch by Harding then allowed the Huskies to grab the winning run.
In game two, SCSU's Mile Nablo turned in three innings of no-hit relief to gain his first win at SCSU. Â Garrett Harrison started the game with 5.0 innings of work that included seven strikeouts and four hits allowed. Â The Huskies scored three runs in the sixth inning, while Harding had three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Â In the top of the eighth, SCSU's Jackson Goplen scored the game winner on a throwing error by HU.
Eric Loxtercamp had a three-run homer in the sixth to key the Huskies' offense in the contest.
