
St. Cloud State baseball remains undefeated with wins in Arkansas

The St. Cloud State baseball team improved to 4-0 on the 2015 season with a 2-1 and 1-0 doubleheader sweep at Harding University in Searcy, Ark. on Saturday, Feb. 28. Â The Huskies will complete their southern swing with a game at Harding on March 1.
In game two, SCSU scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning as it outhit Harding 5-3 in the contest. Â Reese Gregory got the rally rolling with a single in the seventh. Â Pinch runner Nick Denny then came home to score the game winner on an RBI single by Eric Loxtercamp, who also had a triple in the contest for the Huskies.
Bryan Rohde started the game for SCSU on the hill and pitched 3.1 inning of no-hit baseball that include five strikeouts. Â In relief, Adam Harlander charted the victory while teammate Ryan Diers ended the game for SCSU in the seventh and earned the save. Â
In game one, Harding took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning before SCSU tied the contest at 1-1 with a lone run in the fourth inning. Â Mike Jurgella scored the run with a fielder's choice RBI in the fourth. Â In the seventh inning, SCSU scored the game winner with an RBI double by Mike Jurgella that brought home Loxtercamp.
SCSU outhit Harding 5-4 in the game. Â Logan Spitzack was the pitcher of record for SCSU with 6.2 innings of work. Â He had three strikeouts in the game and three hits allowed. Â Diers finished the game for SCSU in relief.
SCSU will finish the trip to Harding with a Noon game on March 1.
