St. Cloud State Baseball goes 5-0 on Arkansas trip

The St. Cloud State University baseball team completed its opening weekend of the 2015 season with a solid 8-4 victory at Harding University on Sunday, March 1 in Searcy, Ark. Â The victory moved the Huskies' record to 5-0 on the season. Â Next week the Huskies will travel to Tucson, Ariz. for a series of games from March 7-15.
In a game that was tied 2-2 in the fourth inning, the Huskies scored one run in the fith inning, three runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the eighth inning to grab the victory. Â SCSU outhit Harding 16-8 in the contest, while Sheldon Miks was the pitcher of record with 7.0 innings of four hit baseball that included four strikeouts.
Eric Loxtercamp had three hits and scored two runs in the game, while Brandon Arnold also had three hits and two runs in the game. Â In the sixth inning, Arnold blasted a three run double to charge the Huskies. Â Mike Jurgella had a two run homer in the eighth inning and ended his game with three hits and three RBIs.
Of note, Cody Rutledge, Garrett Anderson and Miles Nablo completed the game for SCSU with a combined 2.0 inning of relief work.
