St. Cloud State collects doubleheader sweep over Northern State

The #20 St. Cloud State University baseball team (12-0) collected two more wins on March 12 with a doubleheader sweep against Northern State University. SCSU gained a 9-2 victory in game on and a 12-5 victory in game two. Both games were played in Tucson, Ariz.
In game one, the Huskies picked up one run in the first inning and then added six runs in the third inning to gain a 7-2 lead. The Huskies were sparked in that inning by a two RBI double by Reese Gregory and an RBI sacrifice by Kyle Lieser. Eric Loxtercamp capped the rally by stealing home base in the inning. The Huskies added one more run in the fourth inning to gain an 8-2 lead. In the sixth inning Sam Boisner's sacrifice fly pushed SCSU's lead to 9-2. Garrett Harrison was the pitcher of record in the game for SCSU.
In game two, SCSU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and then pushed the lead to 7-0 in the top of the second. Gregory padded SCSU's lead to 8-3 in the fifth inning with a solo homer. A double by Mike Jurgella and an RBI single by Karl Sorensen moved the Huskies lead to 10-3 in the sixth. SCSU went on to claim the win by a 12-5 score.
On March 13, the Huskies will play Bemidji State in Tucson, Ariz.
