The #5 St. Cloud State University baseball team (18-0, 2-0 NSIC) opened its 2015 NSIC season with a pair of victories at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa on March 20. In game one, the Huskies posted a 5-4 victory and then completed the deal with a 13-2 victory in game two.

In game one, the Huskies trailed 3-2 after the second inning but they rebound with one run in the third inning and two runs in the sixth inning to win the contest. Pitcher Garrett Harrison won the game for the Huskies with nine strikeouts and five hits allowed. Reese Gregory scored the save in the game with 1.2 innings of work that included two strikeouts.

At the plate, Brandon Arnold and Zach Hoffmann each had two hits in the game for the Huskies. In the sixth inning Kyle Lieser and Eric Loxtercamp both scored to gain the winning edge with an RBI by Arnold.

In game, two the Huskies outhit the Peacocks 12-4 in the game. The big inning for SCSU was a six run second inning that gave the Huskies a 8-2 lead. Zak Hoffman cranked out a home run in the game and finished with two hits an two RBIs. Loxtercamp, Eric Sorensen and Logan Swann all had two hits in the game. Sheldon Miks was the pitcher of record with three hits allowed in 5.0 innings of play. Karsen Forsman and Nick Denny finished the game in relief fo the Huskies.

SCSU will complete its weekend trip to Fayette, Iowa with a doubleheader against Upper Iowa on March 21. Game time is slated for Noon.
