Huskies gain #3 ranking in this week's NCBWA DII Poll

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (20-0, 4-0 NSIC) gained a number three ranking in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, which was released on March 24. Â This marks the highest national ranking the Huskies have received in 2015. Â Last week, SCSU was ranked #5 in the NCBWA poll.
The Huskies are off to their best start in the history of the baseball program at 20-0, which includes four wins in SCSU's conference opening weekend  at Upper Iowa on March 20-21.  The Huskies will continue their 2015 season with games at Augustana College on March 28-29.  The current NCBWA poll is listed below: Â

St. Cloud State Baseball Headlines:
Ryan Diers (Jr., LHP, Belle Plaine, Minn. / Belle Plaine HS) guided the Huskies to their 19th consecutive win of the season with a complete game 6-1 victory at Upper Iowa on March 21. In the game, Diers charted 10 stikeouts, while allowing just two hits and one earned run over 7.0 innings of work against the Peacocks. On the week, Diers posted a 1.29 ERA for the Huskies. On the season, Diers owns a 4-0 record with a 2.79 ERA and 19 strikeouts.
Zach HoffmannZach Hoffmann (Jr., 1B, New Ulm, Minn. / New Ulm HS) paced the Huskies at the plate during four road wins at Upper Iowa on March 20-21. On March 20, Hoff- mann cranked out two hits and added one run in the Huskies series opening win. In game two on March 20, Hoffmann added one hit, one run and two RBIs for the Huskies. He finished the weekend on March 21 with a two-hit performance in game one and then posted two hits, two runs and three RBIs in a 12-0 rout of UIU, which included a home run. On the week, Hoffmann had four runs, seven hits, five RBIs, one homer, two walks, two hit by pitch, 24 putouts and one assist. He batted .583 in the four game set at Upper Iowa with a .833 slugging rate.
The St. Cloud State University baseball team opened its 2015 NSIC season with a weekend sweep at Upper Iowa. On March 20, the Huskies scored a 5-4 and 13-2 doubleheader victory. The sweep was completed on March 21 with a 6-1 and 12-0 pair of wins in Fayette, Iowa.
 The Huskies were ranked #5 in the latest NCBWA Division II national poll last week. - SCSU currently owns a perfect 20-0, 4-0 NSIC record in 2015. The Huskies will continue the season on March 28-29 with NSIC doubleheaders Augustana. - Mike Jurgella paces the Huskies this spring with three homers, eight doubles, 32 hits and a .457 batting average. He is a senior catcher from Plover, Wisc.
 Brandon Arnold saw his 19-game hit streak snapped on March 21 at UIU. On the season, Arnold ranks second on the team with 28 hits. His batting average is .364 with a team leading three triples.
Eric Loxtercamp has 28 hits this spring with six doubles and 13 RBIs.
Zak Hoffman leads the Huskies with 20 RBIs and three RBIs this season. His batting average this season is .385 with 25 hits and seven doubles to his credit. - Pitcher Reese Gregory is 3-0 this spring with three saves, 26 strikeouts and a 1.33 ERA. A double-threat, Gregory is batting .373 this season with two homers, 17 RBIs and six doubles for the Huskies.
Ryan Diers paces the Huskies with a 4-0 pitching record in 2015, while Garrett Harrison paces the Huskies with 30 strikeouts in 2015.
SCSU has outscored its opponents 170-58 this season. As a team, SCSU is batting .348 and the Huskies are holding their opponents to a .226 batting average in 2015Â
