#2 St. Cloud State splits series at #11 Minnesota State

The #2 St. Cloud State University baseball team split a doubleheader at #11 Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn. on Tuesday, March 31. The results of the series moved SCSU's record to 24-2, 8-2 NSIC, while Minnesota State owns a 14-2, 5-1 NSIC record in 2015.
The Huskies were ranked number two in this week's NCBWA Division II poll, which was released on March 31. Last week, SCSU received a number three ranking in the poll and the number ranking is the highest ranking the Huskies have earned in 2015. The top team in this week's poll was Colorado Mesa.
In game one at Mankato, the Huskies charged out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a two-run homer by Mike Jurgella. In the second inning, Eric Loxtercamp pushed the lead to 3-0 with a solo home run. SCSU completed the game with two more runs in the seventh inning that were scored on an RBI single by Reese Gregory.
Gregory was the pitcher of record in the contest with a complete game seven-hit shutout out that include four strikeouts. Gregory is now 4-0 on the season. In the game, SCSU outhit MSU 10-7.
In game two, Mankato  Brandon Arnold and Zach Hoffmann opened the scoring with a pair of first inning homers that made it 2-0. Hoffmann added a second inning double that scored two more runs and pushed the Huskies' lead to 5-2. Mankato replied with two more runs in the second inning to make it 5-4. The Mavericks added one run in the fourth and the game winner in the sixth to wrap up the 6-5 decision. Dylan Ramage was the pitcher of record in relief for the Huskies. In the game, MSU outhit the Huskies 9-6.
SCSU will continue its season on Friday, April 3 with a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader against Wayne State at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. Tickets for the Huskies' home opener are available at the gate and plenty of great seats are available every day at game time.
