St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University baseball team (51-4) suffered a 10-4 loss to Henderson State University (28-19) in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division II Central Region baseball tournament on Friday, May 15 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn.

The loss moves the Huskies into a second round match up against Missouri Southern State University, which lost its first round game in regional play by a 3-1 margin against Minnesota State University on May 15. The Huskies and Lions will play in the loser's bracket of the regional at Bob Cross Park in Sauk Rapids, Minn. at 2 p.m. on May 15.

The victory moves Henderson State into a second round match-up against the loser of today's third game at the regional in St. Cloud between Southern Arkansas and Emporia State.

Henderson State charged to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before the Huskies rallied with one run in the bottom of the first inning and one run in the second inning. In the top of the fifth inning, Henderson scored the winning run with a three run homer by Claude Johnson that pushed the Reddies' lead to 5-2.

In the top of the eighth inning, HSU iced the contest with five runs to make it 10-2. The Huskies came back with one run in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings to make the final tally 10-4.

In the contest, HSU outhit the Huskies 13-6 in the game. Hunter Mayall led the Reddies with three hits and two RBIs and Johnson had two hits and three RBIs in the game. Lance Fields posted a triple and two hits, and Hayden Lessenberry had two hits to add to the HSU cause.

SCSU's Reese Gregory charted two hits in the game, while Zach Hoffmann had two RBIs in the game along with solo hits collected by Brandon Arnold, Karl Sorensen, Beau Fandel and Zak Hoffman. On the mound, HSU's Colton Lorrance was the pitcher of record with 7.0 innings of work that included five strikeouts. Sheldon Miks suffered the loss with 7.1 innings of work that included nine hits and nine runs allowed. Miks is now 10-1 on the season for SCSU.
