Football Wins 28-7 Over Minnesota Crookston

CROOKSTON, Minn.  – Senior Jameson Parsons caught seven passes for 125 yards and a touchdown to help lead the St. Cloud State football team (2-3, 1-0 NSIC North) to a 28-7 victory over Minnesota Crookston (0-5, 0-1 NSIC North) at Ed Widseth Field on Saturday, Oct. 1, on the road. The Huskies are now 13-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles.

Senior Nate Meyer was 15 for 22 for 248 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Junior Jaden Huff ran for 65 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Huff also caught a career-long 49 yard pass. Freshman Joe Blando tallied 49 yards on his nine carries. Sophomore Jake Schley totaled seven tackles to lead the defense. Junior Carvel Graham picked up his third interception of the campaign in the victory.
The Huskies took advantage of an early fumble recovery from Jerry Duckworth off the forced fumble from Adam Josephson and scored on a five play, 37-yard drive finished off by a four-yard scamper from Huff to put the score at 7-0 after the made extra point from Derek Witte.
SCSU added a touchdown to the lead to start the second quarter as Meyer hooked up with redshirt freshman Anthony Carver on a 12-yard scoring pass that made the score 14-0 after the made Witte extra point. The Carver touchdown completed an eight play, 72-yard drive with 14:49 remaining in the second quarter.

The Huskies scored for the third time in the first half on a one-yard run from Blando with 4:12 remaining in the second quarter to make the score 21-0 after the made extra point from Witte. The big play of the drive was a 71-yard Parsons' reception to take the ball out of the shadow of the SCSU end zone. It was Blando's first career touchdown.

The Golden Eagles scored their first touchdown of the game on a one-yard sneak from Nathan Cole on fourth down early in the fourth quarter. The made extra point from Mike Maw put the score at 21-7 with 12:05 remaining in the contest.
SCSU again went up three scores as Meyer hooked up with Parsons on a 24-yard score to put the lead at 28-7 after the made Witte extra point with 4:50 remaining in the contest in what would end up being the final score.
St. Cloud State now returns home to take on the University of Mary on Saturday, Oct. 8, starting at 1 p.m. at Husky Stadium
