St. Cloud State senior receiver Jameson Parsons has been selected to the D2Football.com Preseason All-America Team, the organization announced recently.
The preseason accolades are the fourth of the season for Parsons after he was also selected for Lindy's magazine's All-America Team, College Football America Division II Starting Lineup and to the Football Gameplan All-America Team. Parsons was also recognized this season as a preseason player to watch by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
Parson is one of three players from an NSIC school to be named to the D2Football.com All-America Team and one of only two from the league to earn selection to the First Team.
Parsons, a native of Eagan, Minn., is coming off a historic and near record-breaking season as a junior at SCSU in which he was selected to four different All-American teams. Parsons was a CoSIDA Academic All-American, a Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-American, a Don Hansen Division II All-American and a D2 Football.com All-American. He also was a NSIC North First Team All-Conference selection as a receiver and one of the 38 candidates nationwide for the Harlon Hill Trophy – the Division II College Football Player of the Year Award.
Following an off-season move to wide receiver prior to the 2015 season, Parsons had a breakout campaign as a junior. He led the team and conference with 1,272 receiving yards. His receiving yardage total placed him fifth nationally. Parsons also lead the conference in receiving yards a game (115.6) and was ranked fifth nationally. He placed third in the league in yards per reception (20.85) and 10th nationally, sixth in the NSIC in receptions per game (5.5), fourth in receiving touchdowns (9) and fifth in all-purpose yards (117.82). Parsons became just the fifth different player in school history to reach 1,000 receiving yards on the season and topped 150 yards receiving in a game four different times, second-most in school history for a single campaign. Parsons recorded 100 or more yards receiving in seven different games last season and had a streak of four consecutive games of over 100 yards receiving from Sept. 19-Oct. 10. His 1,272 receiving yards in 2015 was the second-highest single season total in the school record books. Parsons also had three multiple touchdown receiving games and 26 20+ yard receptions on the season. His nine receiving touchdowns ranked 10th on school's single season record list. He did most of his work in the month of October when he caught 32 passes for 660 yards and six touchdowns in the month.  Of his 61 catches on the season, 49 either resulted in SCSU first downs or touchdowns.
The St. Cloud State football team posted an eighth consecutive winning season last fall with a 6-5 overall record.
The program opens the 2016 season at home on Thursday, Sept. 1, against University of Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. at Husky Stadium. The Huskies play a total of five home games on the season including contests against Minnesota State Mankato (Sept. 17, 3 p.m.), University of Mary (Oct. 8, 1 p.m.), Bemidji State (Oct. 29, 1 p.m.) and Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 12, 1 p.m.). The Huskies went 4-2 at Husky Stadium last season and own a 48-20 record at home since the start of the 2004 season.
