Jameson Parsons Selected As D2Football.com Honorable Mention All-American

Liberty, Missouri - St. Cloud State University senior wide receiver Jameson Parsons has been chosen as a 2016 Honorable Mention All-American as a wide receiver by D2football.com, the organization announced this morning, Jan. 26

On the field, Parsons is a two-time All-NSIC First Team selection. In 2016, he caught 71 passes for 1,142 yards and seven touchdowns. He led SCSU and placed fourth in the conference in receiving yards. His 1,000-yard season was only the seventh in school history and he is one of only two players at SCSU to record back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Parsons' 1,142 yards receiving in the fourth-most in a single season in school history, while his 71 catches are the fifth-most in the school record books for a single campaign. He owns two of the program's top-four single season receiving seasons (1,272 – in 2015 is second in the records books besides his 1,142 yards in 2016). Parsons topped 100-yards receiving six times in 2016 to bring his career total 13 100-yard receiving games in 22 contests as a receiver (59 percent). Despite only working as a wide receiver for two seasons, Parsons ended his SCSU career with 132 catches (eighth) for 2,414 yards (sixth), 16 receiving touchdowns (eighth) for an average of 18.29 yards per catch (10th).

In 2016, Parsons has taken home the NSIC's Glen Galligan Award – the student athlete who participates at his institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to the institution, was a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy – the Division II Player of the Year, was a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the second time in his career, earned selection to Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-Region 3 Football Team and participated in the Dream Bowl – a post-season collegiate football all-star showcase in Virginia Beach, Va.
Prior to the start of the SCSU season, Parsons was a Preseason All-American selection by D2Football.com, Lindy's Magazine, College Football America and the Football Gameplan.
Parsons was one of 12 players from NSIC schools that was selected for the D2Football.com's All-American team this season.
