Men’s Basketball On the Road For A Pair of NSIC Games This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State men's basketball team (10-6, 6-1 NSIC) plays a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) road games this weekend. The program travels to Bemidji State to take on the Beavers (3-9, 1-6 NSIC) on Friday, Jan. 6, at 8 p.m. at Sanford Center. The program keeps the road trip going and heads to Crookston, Minn. to play against Minnesota Crookston (5-8, 1-6 NSIC) on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.

Scouting Bemidji State

The Beavers are coached by Mike Boschee, who is in his fifth year running the program.
Bemidji State enters the contest having lost six in a row.
Two of the team's three wins this season have come at home.
The program has been led by Jai'Vionne Green and his average of 16.9 points per game.
Sharif Black sports an average of 14.1 points and 3.2 assists per game.
Black scored an opponent season-high of 29 points against SCSU earlier this season.
Ben Best has averages of 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
Peyton Dibble leads the team with an average 5.3 rebounds per game to along with his 8.6 points per contest

Scouting Minnesota Crookston

The Golden Eagles are coached by Dan Weisse, who is in his third season in leading the program.
Minnesota Crookston has gone 2-2 in the last four games after a previous four-game losing streak.
The team lost both of their games over the weekend on the road to Winona State and Upper Iowa.
Harrison Cleary leads the team and conference with his average of 20.8 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field, 37.9 percent from beyond the arc and 86 percent from the line.
Cleary scored 24 points against SCSU earlier this season.
Chase Knickerbocker is also averaging in double figures at 10.7 points per game.
Gable Smith leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game and the conference with his 2.3 blocks per game and 29 total blocks.
Kobe Critchley ranks among the leaders in the conference with his 43 assists.

Prior Meetings

SCSU is 99-41 all-time against Bemidji State since the teams started playing each other during the 1923-24 season.
St. Cloud State defeated the Beavers 98-95 in a tough fought game earlier this season in St. Cloud (12/3).
Gage Davis led the team in that contest with his 27 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.
Kurt Hall picked up the second double-double of his career with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Scottie Stone tallied 19 points with Mark Hall chipping in 16 points and four assists.
The team lost to Bemidji State by a 70-69 score last season in the last road game between the school
The Huskies lead the all-time series with Minnesota Crookston by a 27-2 count since the school first met 1995-96 season.
The team defeated the Golden Eagles by 98-78 score in Halenbeck Hall earlier this season (12/2) with Davis scoring 27 points, pulling down 12 rebounds and handing out eight assists.
Stone scored all 17 of his points in the last 11:31 of game time when the program outscored UMC by a 43-14 score.
SCSU defeated Minnesota Crookston 80-79 in the last road game between the schools with Stone scoring 32 points to lead the charge.

Notables

The Huskies carry a four-game winning streak into the week and have won seven of the last eight games.
SCSU won a pair of games last week to improve the team's record to 10-6 overall and 6-1 in NSIC league play.
The team is 6-1 in conference play in the NSIC for the first time since the 2011 season when the program won seven of the first eight league games.
The team's 7-1 record in the month of December was the most wins for the program in the month since going 8-1 in 2006.
Over the last 12 years, SCSU has only had one undefeated December and that was a 6-0 mark in 2008.
SCSU started the week with a comeback 82-71 victory over Minot State (12/30).
Gage Davis led the team with a career-high 38 points and also had 17 rebounds.
His 38 points was the most for an individual in the program since Taylor Witte had 39 against Augustana during the 2011 season.
Davis' 17 rebounds was one off his career-high of 18 against BSU (12/3).
It was his sixth double-double of the season and the 16th of his career in 45 career contest.
The game was Davis' third time with 30 or more points in his career
He topped his previous career best of 36 points against Wayne State last season (1/16/16).
Scottie Stone scored 22 points against Minot State and has recorded 20 or more points in six games this season.
Mark Hall picked up six points and five assists.
The program had its second second-half comeback of the weekend and the third in the last four games in defeating the University of Mary by an 88-73 score (12/30).
Davis led the team with his 21 points and also had eight rebounds and five assists.
Over the last 12 games (10 SCSU wins), Davis is 97-for-192 (50 percent) from the field and 30.6 percent from three-point range (15-for-49) plus 74.6 percent from the free throw line (47-for-63).
He is also averaging 21.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in that stretch.
Trevon Marshall reached double figures for the second time against UMary with a career-high 19 points on impressive 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 5-for-5 shooting from the free throw line.
Stone tallied 18 points and tied his career-high with four steals.
He has now scored in double figures in 15 of the 16 games this season, 31 of his last 32 and 63 of the 73 games that he has played in over the last three years.
Over the last six games, Stone is averaging 23.2 points per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field, 46.4 percent from three-point range and 91.7 percent from the free throw line.
Mark Hall chipped in 13 points and 3-for-3 from three-point range against the Marauders.
Jon Averkamp led the team in rebounding and tied his career-high with 10 rebounds against UMary to go along with eight points.
It was his third time this season and seventh time in his career leading the team in rebounding.
For the second time this season and the third time in his career, Davis was named the NSIC North Player of the Week on Jan. 2.
He averaged 29.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game while shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 89.5 percent from the line in leading the program to a pair of conference wins.

The program takes on Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. at Halenbeck Hall.
SCSU then welcomes in Upper Iowa for an 8 p.m. game on Friday, Jan. 13, and Winona State for a 6 p.m. contest on Saturday, Jan. 14.
The Huskies are 55-32 all-time against UMD including a 63-58 victory in Duluth on Dec. 17.
