Football Hosts Northern State This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (6-2, 3-1 NSIC North) plays host to Northern State (3-5, 2-2 NSIC North) on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Husky Stadium at 1 p.m.
The game will feature a "Costume Contest" where all fans are encouraged to wear a costume for a chance to participate in the halftime contest. All fans that do wear a costume will also be able to get in for FREE.

Scouting Northern State
- Northern State lost a 44-17 contest at home to Bemidji State last weekend.
- The team arrives in St. Cloud on a two-game losing streak.
- The Wolves led BSU 7-6 after a quarter, but the Beavers went on a 17-3 run in the second quarter to take control.
- Bemidji State ended up running for 347 yards in the contest.
- Hunter Trautman completed 26 passes for 218 yards and two interceptions.
- Nicholas Truen ran for 56 yards and two scores.
- Zachery Barber recorded eight catches for 89 yards
- Noah MacPherson totaled 12 tackles.
- Zach Mohs picked up a pair of sacks.
- Nathan Shaw became the school's all-time field goal leader with his 27th career make against the Beavers.
- On the season, Truen leads the team with his 512 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.
- Trautman is 63-for-125 for 625 yards and two touchdowns.
- Jake Comeaux has completed 60 passes for 563 yards and three touchdowns.
- Zech Culbreath leads the team with in catches (23) and receiving touchdowns (2).
- Barber is the squad leader with his 206 receiving yards.
- Brian Sumption had three of the team's five interceptions along with 25 tackles and a stop for loss.
- MacPherson has 61 tackles, three stops for loss, an interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
- Joe Gorghuber has seven tackles for loss among his 47 tackles and two fumble recoveries.
- Preston Droessler is the team leader with his eight tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
- The Wolves have 43 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, five interceptions, nine forced fumbles, five recovered fumbles and 22 pass breakups.

- SCSU is 14-5 all-time against Northern State in the previous meetings.
- The series dates back to 1946 with St. Cloud State winning the first contest 24-0.
- The program has dropped the last three games against the Wolves including a 29-28 contest in Aberdeen, S.D. last season.
- NSU got a field goal just before the end of the third quarter to take the lead for good in what had been a back-and-forth contest.
- Jaden Huff ran for 82 yards and a touchdown.
- Joe Blando carried nine times for 35 yards and two touchdowns.
- Nate Meyer completed 16 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown.
- Jameson Parsons hauled in six passes for 63 yards.

- The Scott Underwood Show is held at 7 p.m. weekly on Mondays during the football season at the Green Mill Restaurant in downtown St. Cloud.  Fans are invited to come out and listen to the show live at the Green Mill and enjoy some great menu discounts available during the show on Monday.  The show is hosted by the voice of the Huskies, J.W. Cox and airs on Granite City Sports (1390granitecitysports.com) from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.

- St. Cloud State scored 24 points in the second half and used a strong rushing attack to defeat the University of Mary on the road last weekend.
- The program has outscored opponents 135-58 in second halves in the current three-game winning streak.
- Adam Stage set his own career high with a 48-yard field goal and then broke the school's 24-year old field goal kicking record with a made 55-yard field goal against the Marauders.
- Stage's kick broke Paul Norby's 50-yard kick against Northern Colorado back in 1993.
- Stage's 55-yard field goal in the tied for the third longest in all of Division II this season.
- Curtwan Evans led the rushing attack for SCSU against University of Mary with 128 yards and a touchdown.
- Gregory Lewis totaled 121 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns.
- It was Evans' first 100-yard rushing game since the 2015 season against Minot State.
- Evans and Lewis going over 100-yard rushing in the same game was a first for the program since the 2015 season when the program had three that accomplished the feat against Minot State.
- Lewis has now run for 100 or more yards in three straight games.
- It is the longest streak of consecutive 100-yard games since Matt Birkel had five straight 100-yard games during the 2005 season.
- Lewis has now scored at least a rushing touchdown in three straight games and in four of the last five games.
- He ranks second in the NSIC on the season in rushing touchdowns (8) and sixth in rushing yards (590).
- The SCSU defense was led by Gary Koehring's seven tackles
- The squad also forced three turnovers with Brady Westart and Jack Horter both forcing and recovering fumbles.
- The SCSU defense limited the Marauders to only one touchdown in the game
- It was the second straight week and the fifth game over the last two seasons that the defense has limited the opposition to one score or less.
- The squad also allowed just 61 yards passing to University of Mary and that was the lowest passing yard total allowed by SCSU since giving up just 46 to Wayne State College during the 2012 season.
- The SCSU offense controlled the clock for 39:41 in the game and have won the time of possession in seven of the eight games this season.
- The program had the ball the entire third quarter against the Marauders.
- SCSU comes into the week ranking second nationally in time of possession (35:29) and 18th in rush defense (95.1)
Next Week
- The Huskies are on the road for the final time during the regular season next week with a trip to Bemidji State to take on the Beavers on Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at Chet Andersen Stadium.
- The team fell to the Beavers at home last season by a 48-7 score and have lost two straight to BSU.
- Last season, Bemidji State scored 21 points in the second quarter to take control in what had been a 7-7 game after the first 15 minutes of play.
- BSU were able to total 537 yards of offense including 441 passing yards in the game.
- Jaden Huff led SCSU with 92 yards rushing and a touchdown.
- Nate Meyer completed 19 passes for 219 yards
- Jameson Parsons hauled in nine passes for 153 yards.
