Huskies roll to 24-1 win over Dakota State

The St. Cloud State University baseball opened action on March 11 in Tucson, Ariz. with a 24-1 victory over Dakota State University. Â SCSUÂ improved to 5-3 with the victory, which was played at the Kino Baseball Complex in Tucson.
Ethan Ibarra collected four hits in six at bats to pace SCSU on offense. Â He had two singles and two doubles in the game. Â In total, SCSU collected 17 hits in the game as Cooper Maas, Issac Matchinsky, Cody Rutledge and Mitch Mallek each had two hits apiece. Â Maas and Mallek each had four RBIs in the game for the Huskies.
On the mound, Shannon Ahern picked up the win with 4.0 innings of work. He charted six strikeouts and gave up only three hits. Â Ryan Wesley, Logan Sandgren and T.J. Frericks also provided relief work in the game for SCSU. Â In total, Dakota State only had three hits in the game.
SCSUÂ opened the game with two runs in the first inning and then pounded out eight runs in the third inning. Â The runs continued with two runs in the fourth, five in the fifth and sixth in the seventh. Â Dakota State's lone run was scored in the second.
