After rolling to an 8-4 victory against Southwest Minnesota State, SCSU was walked off in the bottom of the ninth against Northern State
NSICÂ opponents, Southwest Minnesota State (1-3) and Northern State (1-2) at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona.Â
Game One
In the first game of the double-header, St. Cloud State found themselves in a run deficit after three innings of play. A Jackson Goplen double would bring home the Huskies' first run in the fourth inning, then Reid Conlee would record a sacrifice fly to push across the second run of the inning and tie the ball game. The score would remain tied 2-2 until a six-run fifth inning gave the Huskies an 8-2 advantage. St. Cloud State would eventually win the ball game, 8-4.Â
At the plate, Jackson Goplen was 4-5 with two RBI's while Caeden Harris and Jordan Joseph each recorded two RBI's.Â
The pitcher of record for St. Cloud State was Zach Siggelkow. In six innings of work, Siggelkow struck out six and only allowed two runs.Â
Ricardo Garcia provided three strikeouts in his two innings of relief, while TJ Frericks also recorded one strikeout in the last inning of the ball game.Â
Game Two
St. Cloud State and Northern State would match each other a run a-piece in the second and seventh innings of the second game. Other than those two innings, neither team could push across a run until Northern State's Hayden Hall would hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning.Â
Dominic Austing was absolutely lights out on the mound in a back-and-forth pitcher's duel. Austing would record nine strikeouts over seven innings, while only allowing two earned runs.Â
Isaac Matchinsky and Caeden Harris would record the only RBI's for the Huskies in the game. Harris barreled up his first homerun as a Husky in the seventh inning after a pitching change by the Wolves.
Zach Iten entered the game in the eighth inning and would record two strikeouts in his appearance out of the bullpen. Iten was also the pitcher of record for the Huskies while Brock Ragatz would record the win for the Wolves.Â
Sam Krapf started on the mound for the Wolves and would only allow one run on one hit in six innings of work.Â
