The week of Nov. 18-22 marks the 20th anniversary of International Education Week, which is an annual celebration of international education and exchange worldwide and a perfect time to highlight the many contributions that international student-athletes bring to the intercollegiate athletic teams here at St. Cloud State University.

A total of 26 athletes representing 13 different countries are currently participating in intercollegiate athletics here at St. Cloud State University. These international students compete in a variety of sports at St. Cloud State with women's hockey leading the list with eight international players on its 2019-20 roster.
SCSU men's hockey has six international student on its current roster, while the Huskies' men's basketball team has five international players representing Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, Spain and Australia. The international influence is also felt on the SCSU men's swim and dive team with athletes from Brazil, Germany, Spain and Sweden and the SCSU women's swim team with an athlete from Malaysia. The St. Cloud State soccer and softball teams also have one international athlete apiece.
"Our International guys have experience playing within their national programs and have had the opportunity to play against older, more experienced players," SCSU men's basketball coach Matt Reimer said. "This in turn has exposed them to a lot of different situations on the basketball floor that helps prepare them for the college game.​"

St. Cloud State University is ranked 11th in the nation among the Master's granting institutions for the number of international students.
St. Cloud State is ranked 39th in the top 40 Master's Colleges and Universities for study abroad nationwide.
