#5 Huskies Travel to Crookston for Weekend Series

SCSU looks to collect their 30th win of the season this weekend.
The #5 St. Cloud State baseball team (29-6, 17-4 NSIC) will travel to Crookston, Minn. this weekend to face the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles in a three-game series set to be played April 19-20. SCSU and UMC will play a double header starting at 1 PM on Friday, then play a single game starting at 12 noon on Saturday.Â

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend 20-14 overall and 13-7 in conference play after splitting with Southwest Minnesota State in their midweek series, and taking two of three from U-Mary last weekend. The Golden Eagles have notched notable victories over Augustana, Minnesota State, Concordia-St. Paul and Wayne State.
Reed Hjelle returns as the Golden Eagles' primary offensive threat, boasting a .346 batting average along with team-high's in hits (36), runs scored (31), RBI's (31), slugging percentage (.683) and on-base percentage (.532).
On the mound, Zach Rustad (4-5) leads the Golden Eagles in innings pitched with 47 1/3, while owning a 4.94 ERA through nine starts. Rustad has struck out a team-high of 38 and has walked 24. Jayden Grover and Nate Albrecht have each totaled at least seven starts and over 35 innings, with Grover holding a 4.89 ERA and Albrecht with a 3.86. UMC's closer Dalton Grose leads the conference in saves with eight, while having posted 32 strikeouts through 27 1/3 innings of work over 18 appearances.
