The St. Cloud State University baseball team (40-12) was knocked out of the 2019 NSIC baseball tournament on Saturday, May 11 with a 11-4 loss to Minot State University (36-17) at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. The loss was the second of the day for the Huskies, which now await word on a possible NCAA DII tournament bid that will be announced on Sunday, May 12 at 9 p.m. on NCAA.com

Fans can join the Huskies at the Ultimate Sports Bar and Grill in Waite Park, Minn. at 8:30 p.m. for a bracket show viewing gathering. The Ultimate Sports Bar and Grill offers a fine selection of food and drink items on its menu. The Huskies have gained four consecutive NCAA tournament bids and have received eight tournament bids since 2010.

SCSU opened the contest against Minot State with a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a single by Mitch Mallek that scored Najee Gaskins. Minot scored two runs in the third inning before the Huskies tied the game in the bottom of the third with an RBI single by Jordan Joseph that scored Mallek.

Minot rallied in the fourth with one run before SCSU tied the game at 3-3 with a solo home run by Gaskins, which was his fifth of the seaon. A pair of home runs by Minot in the fifth and seventh inning stretched the Beavers' lead to 6-3. Aaron Hammann provided SCSU's final run with an RBI that scored Toran Shahidi to make it 6-4.

That run proved to be the extent of SCSU's offense as Minot added four runs in the eighth inning and two in the ninth to earn the ticket to the championship game against Augustana on Sunday, May 12.

In the game, Minot outhit the Huskies 14-9. Meyer and Caeden Harris each had two hits to lead the Huskies. In the four games of tournament play, Meyer ranked among the best with a .563 batting average, nine hits, 10 RBIs and two home runs. Matthew Osterberg was the pitcher of record in the game for SCSU with 4.0 innings of relief work that included four strikeouts. Trevor Koenig started the game for SCSU with 4.0 innings of pitching work and five strikeouts.
