St. Cloud State women's hockey (4-12-1, 4-12-1 WCHA) fell by a 4-2 final at the hands of Minnesota State (7-10-1, 7-10-1 WCHA) in the Huskies' 2020-21 home finale at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Saturday. Following the game, SCSU celebrated their five seniors Hannah Bates, Emma Bigham, Laura Kluge, Emma Polusny and Kenzie Wylie as part of their Senior Day festivities.

Minnesota State opened the scoring late in the first period at the 18:21 mark with a power play goal. Polusny played a brilliant opening frame, stopping 23 of 24 Mavericks shots.

Kluge promptly knotted things up five-and-a-half minutes into the second, taking a puck knocked loose by Taylor Lind uncovered in the slot and launched a blistering one-timer past the MSU goaltender for her third goal of the season. The Mavericks scored just two minutes later to retake the lead, then added their third goal of the game at the 10:21 mark on an unassisted marker.

Just under seven minutes into the third, Minnesota State stretched their lead to three with another power play goal. St. Cloud State cut the deficit to two at the 14:04 point as Jenniina Nylund came open in the slot and banged in her fifth tally of the season with assists to Lind and Addi Scribner. The Huskies spent a great deal of time in the attacking zone to close the game but could not find the back of the net, resulting in the 4-2 final.

Nylund went 15-8 (65.2%) on faceoffs to lead SCSU to a 34-24 (58.6%) advantage in the circle. Klara Hymlarova blocked a team-high four shots, while Polusny posted 42 saves.

The Huskies were outshot 46-29 in the game and went 0-for-5 on the power play.

St. Cloud State is idle next weekend before closing their regular season on the road at Ohio State and Bemidji State.
