Fifty-eight Huskies earn Academic All-Conference honors

BURNSVILLE, MINN. - It was not the most conventional season for the St. Cloud State University winter sports teams. After months of waiting and hoping for the chance to play, teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) were able to play an abbreviated season, and found success in a multitude of ways, both on and off their respective playing surfaces. After the conclusion of both the regular season and postseason, the NSIC recognized 58 Husky winter sport athletes as members of the conference's Winter All-Academic Team and Academic Team of Excellence Thursday morning.
Student-athletes from St. Cloud State's men's and women's basketball teams, women's indoor track and field, women's swimming and diving and wrestling were all represented on the NSIC Academic All-Conference list. The women's swim and dive team led the way with 23 honorees this winter season, while track and field had 17 representatives on the list. Wrestling landed eight on the list, while the basketball team's combined for 10 Academic All-Conference honorees.
In total, 794 student-athletes received NSIC All-Academic honors this winter and 482 of those student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. To be eligible to receive All-Academic Team honors, student-athletes must be a member of the varsity travel team and maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher. Additionally, the student-athletes must academically be of sophomore, junior or senior standing and completed one full year at the institution. Members of the All-Academic Team of Excellence must maintain a 3.60 cumulative GPA during the year.
