Gumbko and Steffensen hit home runs in Huskies' first victory of the season

ARKADELPHIA, Ark – St. Cloud State Baseball (1-3, 0-0 NSIC) got some timely hitting to pick up their first win of the season over Ouachita Baptist, 8-5, on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Mitchell Gumbko (1-for-4, HR) and senior Paul Steffensen (1-for-3, HR, 2 R) both went deep for the first time this season in the Huskies eight-run effort. St. Cloud State trailed heading into the sixth inning after the Tigers put up a four spot in the bottom of the fifth. Redshirt sophomore Jack Habeck and freshman Ethan Lanthier pitched in relief to help secure the victory for the Huskies in the final game of the weekend.

KEY MOMENT

With two outs in the inning, Max Gamm smoked a bases-clearing double to the wall in left field to give the Huskies a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

TOP HUSKIES

Cameron Vollmer (2-for-4, 2 RBI) recorded his second straight multi-hit effort and drove in the game winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Jack Habeck (3.0 IP, R, BB, 2 K's) was great in his second relief appearance on the season.
Max Gamm (2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI) had his best day at the plate on the weekend to get the Huskies jump started when they were down 4-2.

NOTES

True Freshman Ethan Lanthier (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB) pitched out of a bases loaded jam and notched his first collegiate save.
Mitchell Gumbko hit his first home run as a Husky to get the scoring started for St. Cloud State in the third inning.
