Huskies Start Strong but Fall Short to Mountain Lions

Riola goes deep twice for the Huskies
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After a strong start for St. Cloud State Baseball (1-4), the bats woke up for the University of Colorado- Colorado Springs to finish off the Huskies in seven innings by a final score of 14-4. The Mountain Lions finished with four guys collecting multi-hit efforts while their starter Johnathan Cowles picked up his second complete game. A bright spot for St. Cloud was redshirt junior Sam Riola (3-for-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI) who went deep to the opposite field twice and continues to be a hot bat in the middle of the lineup. UCCO scored in five straight innings to put the run rule in effect in the bottom of the 7th to finish it out.
KEY MOMENT
The Mountain Lions were leading 6-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth and put up a five spot off of four hits to extend the lead. Starter Johnathan Cowles shut down the Huskies the rest of the way.

The Huskies continue their trip in Colorado Springs with a match up against a familiar opponent. St. Cloud State will play a non-conference game against the University of Mary on Sunday at 3:30 CST. - Tate Wallat (2-for-4, R) had his second multi-hit game of the season.
- Ethan Navratil (1-for-3, 2B) hit the ball hard twice and had his first double of the season.
- The Mountain Lions finished with 16 hits and finished with a season high of 14 runs.
- St. Cloud left five runners on base.
- Cameron Vollmer (1-for-2) extends his hitting streak to four games with an infield single.
