Duffy earns first win of the season, Schiller records triple and two RBI
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Sunshine State didn't prove to be sunny in the opening game for St. Cloud State Baseball in Florida. After pushing the game up to get some innings in, St. Cloud State opened their road trip against West Virginia Wesleyan on Monday afternoon in Winter Haven, Fla. SCSU jumped out to an early lead over the Bobcats with two runs in the first inning, followed by a couple more in the fourth. With a 4-1 lead, the Huskies took the field for the sixth inning, but a thunderstorm rolled through causing both teams to take cover. Eventually, the game was called after 20 minutes, and since they completed five innings it goes down as an official game.
St. Cloud State (4-5) wins back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 4-1 win over the Bobcats.
KEY MOMENT
Sophomore Tyler Schiller (1-for-2, 3B, 2 RBI) drilled a pitch to right center field for extra bases in the bottom of the fourth inning. As he was headed for third base, the Bobcats made a throwing error allowing Schiller to score following his triple and extend the Huskies lead 4-1.
TOP HUSKIES
Redshirt Sophomore Outfielder John Nett
"I feel like I keep improving game by game and at bat by at bat right now which is a good feeling. If I keep putting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense, then good things will happen for me and more importantly the team. Great to get another win after our first game in Florida and hopefully we can continue the momentum."
