Ahern throws an eight-inning gem, bats come alive late in 12-2 win
KEY MOMENT
True freshman Sawyer Smith (1-for-3, 2B, RBI) doubled down the left field line in his first collegiate at bat to tie the game at two in the sixth. The Huskies followed that hit up by another RBI double off the bat of redshirt sophomore John Nett to give the Huskies a 3-2 lead in the sixth.
TOP HUSKIES
- Ahern was phenomenal on the mound, lasting a career high eight innings in his second straight win to improve his record to 2-1 on the season.
- Nett (3-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB) had his best day at the play this season, reaching base five times.
- True freshman Ethan Navratil (2-for-3, RBI, HBP) reached base three times and drove in his seventh RBI of the season.
- Redshirt junior Drew Bulson caught two runners stealing in the bottom of the fifth to end the inning.
- 10 different Huskies picked up a hit today; as a team St. Cloud was (3-for-6) pinch hitting while driving in two runs on those three hits
- Ahern threw 73% strikes on his 95 pitches this afternoon in the longest start by a Husky this season.

"I think the biggest thing was the trust in my defense and I knew if I threw it over the plate, they would back me up. It's nice for our team to start stringing some wins together after a tough start. We just keep believing in the game plan and each other which hopefully can turn into a few more wins here in Florida. Huskies are hot!"
