Riola records six RBI on the day, records save in nightcap
MINOT, N.D. – After dropping the second half of a doubleheader on Wednesday, St. Cloud State Baseball (35-11, 27-5 NSIC) started a new win streak on Friday with a doubleheader sweep over Minot State (26-20, 20-11 NSIC) on Friday afternoon in Minot. Redshirt junior Sam Riola (Blaine, Minn.) stayed hot with a solid performance in each game, going a combined 7-for-9 with a home run, triple and six RBI at the plate, while finishing the last 1.1 innings of the night cap to earn his first save of the season.
Game One: Huskies 3, Beavers 1

In his last four starts, Tupy has allowed just one run on six hits with 40 strikeouts in 24.0 innings of work.
Riola provided the only offense the Huskies needed in one swing, as he drove in three runs with a bases-clearing triple in the fourth to make the score 3-0. Minot State responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but were shut down after that. Redshirt senior Ryan Duffy (South St. Paul, Minn.) came on in relief and closed the door on the game, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts to earn the save.
Game Two: Huskies 8, Beavers 1
The Huskies jumped out to a lead and had to hold on in the nightcap, as the Beavers scored five runs late, but failed to complete the comeback. Riola notched his fourth RBI of the day in the top of the first on a fielder's choice while Minot State responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the score, 1-1. Senior Max Gamm (Woodbury, Minn.) added an RBI double in the second before Riola added to his league-leading home run mark with his 17th bomb of the season, a two-run shot to make the score 4-1 in the third.
The eighth inning was an eventful one, as the Huskies tacked on three in the top of the inning before the Beavers responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. SCSU starter redshirt junior Riley Ahern (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) was chased out of the inning after a strong first seven innings, as he let up seven runs on nie hits with four strikeouts but still earned the win.
Riola took the mound in the bottom if the eighth with two outs and pitched a perfect 1.1 innings to earn his first save of the season, closing the down on the Beavers comeback attempt.
