Kenzie Foley named NSIC Offensive POTW for the third time in her career, Emma Berran picks up Setter of the Week accolades
St. Cloud, Minn. – Two St. Cloud State Volleyball student-athletes have been named NSIC Players of the Week, as Kenzie Foley (Offensive) and Emma Berran (Setter) earned weekly honors for the first time this season. Foley's Offensive Player of the Week honor is the third of her career while Berran has been named Setter of the Week for the first time.
Both Huskies were instrumental in a 2-0 conference-opening weekend for No. 6 St. Cloud State, sweeping both Mary and Minot State to extend their winning streak to 10 matches.
Foley led the NSIC with a .644 hitting percentage, putting down 33 kills (5.50/set) including 23 in the Huskies' three-setter over Mary on Friday. Her 23 kills were the most in a three-set match by a Husky since Leah Herrboldt had the same amount on September 13, 2002 against Minnesota-Morris. Foley was second in both kills per set and points per set (5.92) across the NSIC, closing out her weekend with a double-double against Minot State. Through the first three weeks of the season, the junior leads the Northern Sun in kills/set and points/set while ranking fourth in hitting percentage.
Berran averaged 12.80 assists per set last weekend, piling up 64 in just five sets. She guided the offense to outhit the rest of the conference by nearly 80 percentage points in Week 3 as the Huskies hit a whopping .427. SCSU led the NSIC in kills per set (16.00) with three of Berran's hitters landing top-10 in hitting percentage on the week. The first-year setter is the first Huskies freshman to earn Setter of the Week accolades in the program's NSIC era.
St. Cloud State continues NSIC play at home this weekend with matches against Northern State and MSU-Moorhead at Halenbeck Hall on Friday and Saturday.
