St. Cloud State Volleyball Ranked in Third and Final NCAA Region Rankings

Huskies ranked No. 1 in Central Region
INDIANAPOLIS – St. Cloud State Volleyball (25-2, 18-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) was ranked No. 1 in the third and final NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. The Huskies are one of five Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams ranked, joining Concordia-St. Paul, Southwest Minnesota State, Wayne State and Northern State.
St. Cloud State is looking to make its fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies have made the NCAA Tournament a total of nine times in program history. St. Cloud State won its NSIC Tournament Quarterfinals match against No. 8 seed Sioux Falls in straight sets on Tuesday night at Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies will play No. 18/No. 5 seed Northern State (21-6, 12-6 NSIC) at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Halenbeck Hall.
SCSU clinched its third NSIC Regular Season Championship in program history and the No. 1 seed for the NSIC Tournament. The Huskies have won a program record 21 straight matches and completed their best conference season in program history (18-0). Thirteen of the teams 25 wins have come against teams ranked/receiving votes in the AVCA Poll.
The NSIC, the Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC) make up the 39-team NCAA Central Region. The top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA region tournament on December 5-8. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the MIAA, GAC and NSIC postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots awarded on an at-large basis.
The NCAA Volleyball selection show will be streamed online on Monday, November 25 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on NCAA.com.
The championship quarterfinals, semifinals and final match will take place Thursday-Saturday, December 12-14, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
