
Third Period Scoring Frenzy from No. 5 Gophers Shuts Down No. 10 Huskies

Avery Farrell Records Lone Goal for the Huskies
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Team (15-14-1, 10-13-1 WCHA) was shut down by No. 5 Minnesota (24-5-1, 18-5-1 WCHA) at Ridder Arena on Saturday.
The Gophers took the 1-0 lead at the 15:12 mark of the first period as Abbey Murphy scored her second goal of the series. Avery Farrell (Rogers, Minn.) would strike back at the 4:58 mark of the second period to tie the game at one apiece.
The teams were tied at one a piece heading into the final frame but the Gophers had different plans. Ella Huber was able to beat netminder Sanni Ahola (Helsinki, Finland) just 13 seconds into the period to put them up by one.
Following Huber's goal, the Gophers would net three more in the final frame. Two of the three were empty-net goals in the final minutes of game number two. With the four goals scored in the third period, the Gophers took down the Huskies 5-1.
